  1. Album version, 3'48.
    Released on Oranges & Lemons.
Andy: “It's either about a penis or a son. Whatever you hear first, that's what it's about. The penis idea is obvious. The son part might not be. But you can interpret the song as a father talking to his son about girls. The title comes from the fact that my wife and I used to call our first child ‘the pink thing’.”
Andy: “Listening to new remix of PINK THING,was reminded of Daves solo,an homage to Charlie Parkers RELAXIN AT CAMARILLO via Joe Pass”
  2. Demo version.
Released in September 2004 on Fuzzy Warbles Volume Six in the U.K.
Also released on the Blu-ray reissue of Oranges & Lemons on 30 October 2015 in the U.K.
Andy: “When you become a dad you badly want to write about your kids, it's natural, but it seems to easy to fall into the sickly greetings card world overpopulated by well meaning but flatulent fathers. So I thought I'd write about Harry in a way that was utterly unmistakable with thinly disguised filth. Ah! The Double entendre. Of course being more of an upright member of society these days, if I spot a D.E. in my lyrics I whip it out immediately. It's the same with mistakes, they come out too, I wouldn't want you seeing any big fat stinkers I'd made. What?”
  3. 2015 stereo mix.
Mixed and produced by Steven Wilson from the original multi-track tapes.
Released on the CD/Blu-ray reissue of Oranges & Lemons on 30 October 2015 in the U.K.
  4. 2015 5.1 mix.
Mixed and produced by Steven Wilson from the original multi-track tapes.
Released on the Blu-ray reissue of Oranges & Lemons on 30 October 2015 in the U.K.
  5. 2015 instrumental mix.
Mixed and produced by Steven Wilson from the original multi-track tapes.
Released on the Blu-ray reissue of Oranges & Lemons on 30 October 2015 in the U.K.
  6. "Early Version of Pink Thing".

Lyrics

Anytime you rise, I'm here, and I'm crazy for you pink thing. You make me want to laugh, you make me want to cry, when I stroke your head I feel a hundred heartbeats high, pink thing.
I want to take you out and show you round the world, pink thing it'll be OK. If I could only wake you from your slumber curled, pink thing what would straight folks say? That man isn't fit to enter heaven. That man is a sinner. Ever burning in disgrace. Pink thing, spit in my face, I'd love you for it.
Anytime you call, I'll fall into madness for you pink thing. You make me want to live. You make me want to die. And when I stroke your head I feel a hundred heartbeats high, pink thing.
I want to take you out and show you to the girls, pink thing they're a whole new tribe. If you could only see the way the way the gingham swirls, pink thing it's a whole new vibe. That man isn't fit to be a father. That man is a sinner. 'Fore they cast me down to die, pink thing, spit in my eye, I'd love you for it. Yes, I'd love you for it.
Any time you rise, I'm here, and I'm crazy for you pink thing. You make me want to laugh, you make me want to cry. And when I stroke your head I feel a hundred heartbeats high, pink thing. Hundred heartbeats high, pink thing. Hundred heartbeats high.
I want to introduce you, take you to the brink thing. I want to introduce you, tell me what you think thing. I want to introduce you, make that missing link thing. Don't you think it's time you met some female pink thing?
You make me want to laugh, you make me want to cry, so why is it I'm happy when there's tears down in your eye? Little pink thing.

Hey Chalkhills! Delighted this place is still rolling. With the magic
of modern technology (Anytune+), I just checked my work on this
transcription I made 19 years ago, and I almost nailed it; I had one
note wrong and the last ascending phrase inverted. That said, it's
still impossible to play fast so here is my corrected version, for
posterity:

Attached is a labor of love I've been working on for the past few weeks. It is bass guitar transcriptions for all of the songs on "Oranges and Lemons" - both notation and tab.

Thanks!

My transcription differs a little from the one John did. Here it
is for variety. The second run in the second to last bar sounds
really unlikely, but that's what I heard on a half-speed
tape machine!

(I've decided for clarity not to notate the hammer-ons,
pull-offs and slides; you can hear those on the track itself and
interpret them as you like! *or refer to John's*)
