Chalkall,

There's a review of XTC's career on The ONion AV/Club's excellent
feature 'POPLESS' where head critic Noel Murray has been going without
listening to any new music for a year in order to eliminate some of
the discs, etc that he has accumulated in 10 (+?) years of reviewing...

He's always a good read, and his take on XTC is flattering,
frustrating and not uncritical.

Give it a read:

My name's Chris Lawrenson - was browsing through YouTube and I noiced that
The Redway school - a school for children with severe and profound and
multiple learning difficulties in Milton Keynes - has recorded a version of
Everything Will Be Alright to raise money from the sale of the CD to raise
funds for thei new MiLE sensory room and hydrotherapy pool. Andy has given
his thumbs up to the project.

Is it something for the newspage? The link is at

Keep up the good work, XTC news is few and far between but I've been a
Chalkhills visitor for ten years now, so thank you!

All the best,

CHRIS

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "Making Plans for Nigel."

Yeah, Andy has talked before about this song
(http://snipurl.com/6l4th), but this time Colin reveals all. If you
want to know how Colin thinks it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes
to write a song, or why he worried about "Nigel" being a single, check
out the XTCfans blog site at http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

We're only making plans for Nigel
Nigel's whole future is as good as sealed...

Those in the UK may have seen the Nokia magazine and billboard adverts for
their music download service. They have taken the titles of songs (and their
respective artists) to make a sentence about how good their service is (it's
hard to explain!)

Anyway, at the station this morning I was greeted by two humungous billboard
posters with the words "Millions" by XTC on them. It's made my day. (Not
least as the song above it was "Download" by the equally fantastic Super
Furry Animals...)

I'm easily pleased. I might buy a Nokia phone!

I just wanted to let you know for the Chalkhills that 'All You Pretty
Girls', (via my cover of the song that you mentioned in July) has been
nominated for "Best Original Song' at the BBC Radio2 Folk Awards. It
happens on February the 2nd in London and will be broadcast on Radio2 on
Weds the 4th.

We've been asked to play the song at the ceremony too, and I've heard
that Andy has accepted the invitation and will be there at the event,
which all makes me very nervous but is still pretty amazing.

There's details about the awards and the nomination here -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/event/folkawards2009/ .

Thanks a lot.

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "Millions."

If you want to know how Andy was "obsessed with this fantasy idea of
China," or how they were able to bend finger cymbals in the studio,
check out the XTCfans blog site at http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

We felt the air from your hands all clapping time
In time, I'm sure your time is not so far away...
