Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "The Last Balloon."

If you want to know how Nonsuch narrowly avoided being "a concept
album without really being one," and why the flugelhorn solo was
recorded at 2:00 a.m., check out the XTCfans blog site at
http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

The last balloon is leaving, the last balloon from fear
The last balloon is leaving, form that line right here...

Cheeky little XTC reference for one of Drums and Wires' less
celebrated songs. Bet they don't get any royalties for it though....

Also, can I just thank all Chalkhillers who have bought my spoof
punk/new wave CD 'The Best of Sniffing and Cursing'. The XTC one is
Track 5, 'Ellis Island' by The Nebular Nobsticks which contains all
the silly lyrical references like 'Don't let your drummer near the
chip shop' etc..

Be good.

I hope this isn't old news, but there's a great 20-page
interview with Gregsy in the book

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mellotron-Machine-Musicians-that-Revolutionised/dp/189894802X/

The book has interviews with 24 lovers of the mighty Tron,
including John Wetton, Bill Bruford, Greg Lake, Ian McDonald
and Tony Banks. You can see a full list of interviewees on
the Amazon link above.

Enjoy!

cheers!
Toby
