Anyone remember Air Supply? Oddly enough they haven't been mentioned in these parts for quite some time. And where the hell is Dom? Probably at an Opeth concert or writing a song about T-Bone I guess... - Mike

Perhaps Christopher gives it to ZZ Top because they're *still together* in the original lineup, whereas, as you say, the original Four Tops are no more?

ANY NEWS OF THIS???? On that site, which is an xtc fan must read, the boldface titles are hyperlinks to the full answers. It appears that Andy does indeed answer every question. How ripe is that? The following is a copy and pasted reply to your similar question about "getting back together" in this non-snippet: A. Well me old Kev, somebody has got some crossed wires going for sure and what a mistake to read anything on Thickipedia. NO,we wont be getting back together again for any purpose in any forseeable future as long as I've still got a hole in my arse. advertisement How do these rumours start? I suppose it's from the same source that gave the world snippets like "Andy wears armour and has a collection of more than 50 bycycles" (which journalists have actually asked me about in all seriousness). - AP Another Steve

That would certainly be a real shame. Such negligence shows how fragile all the musical history really is, and this sort of thing could take place at any record company or entertainment conglomerate. So I think that there is a lot more to worry about now than what format we listen to our favorite music on. Kevin

I'm not only a fan of XTC but also of 10cc, and Marmalade Army sounds to my ear like Graham Gouldman of 10cc singing new XTC songs, with a bit of 10cc-ish parts thrown in. I previewed their tracks on Not Lame, Amazon, and iTunes and liked what I heard. If anyone else has checked them out, please give your opinion! - Randy

But they're not together NOW, are they? A pretty good run, but we're talking currently running streak. Still, if we're talking longevity with the same lineup, even with the streak broken it's a hard one to beat. Also Levi Stubbs isn't performing with them anymore due to health problems, but that came up after Peyton died. If you think of anyone else let me know, it's practically impossible to keep the same lineup of a band together for more than a year or two, let alone the better part of a lifetime. It's amazing enough that The Rolling Stones have lost only two original members over the years, you can thank the calming influence of Charlie Watts for that one. If you want to know which Prince song Andy thinks this song has a connection to, or how the recording of this song featured a vocal "first" that he wasn't particularly proud of, check out the XTCfans blog site at http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans. For if we don't start learning well We're all gonna wind up scarecrow people, too. -Todd

First, they have gained a place in the Power pop top 200 as chosen by John Borak in the not lame book Shake Some Action http://www.notlame.com/PBPOWERPOPBOOK.html The album chosen was Upsy Daisy, which the author acknowledges is a bit of a cop out, but still... Also, there is a 2 page piece by Mike Simmonds of The Sparkejets UK, highlighting his favourite tracks; plus various pop luminaries pick out their faves, and those that pick an XTC album, mainly pick out Skylarking. I'd have had Black Sea as more power poppy, but there you go. Secondly, the Will Hodgkinson book "Song Man" is the second in his middle age quest to become vaguely competent at "pop", the first volume concentrating on badgering pop/rock stars to teach him guitar, whilst song man highlights his efforts to write a song. This proceeds in the same way as the previous book, ie hassling pop stars for songwriting tips, including a trip to Swindon to interview Andy Partridge. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0747584958 Cheers, John

The post about a possible resuscitation of the band really had a few quick beats going. Needless to say, I tossed on a couple of the classics to cheer me up. I appreciate those of you who post with new (or old) bands and recomendations. Rarely am I dissapointed and it always leads somewhere interesting. Mine? Try Vampire Weekend. Cheers.
