Maybe it was because I got it around the same time as "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending," or maybe it was slicker than the first, but there just wasn't a lot of standout tunes on there, IMHO. In fact, just sitting here in my robe ready to get ready for work, the only lines I can remember from the whole thing are regarding the sex of Ghod and who the father of mankind is - probably a passing milkman, if you believe the Bob-is-Ghod set. And that's really a shame. I feel like Neil's writing has been going downhill and Tim's is getting better, but this album just isn't a good place to start. Wake me when my copy of Adrian Belew's new album is here, OK?

The lovely irony in light of the lyric is that you don't have to choose just 10 or 20 on this desert island.... and even if you did you can cram a couple hundred albums on an mp3 player. As long as the professor is with you to keep the appliances working. I completely sympathize with English Settlement as a 1 of the 10 choice. Magical Mystery Tour is my Beatles pick (with all the singles added- strawberry fields etc) Diamond Dogs - David Bowie isn't mentioned much here. "Candidate/Sweet Thing" is Art-Rockish. Bob Marley - he's an island-rocker. Bustin' Out of Trenchtown is a collection of early work that's gotten alot of earplay in this household. His music endures - good for those long deserted years. Jimi Hendrix too!... my desert island choice would be Electric Ladyland... Moon turns tides caught me like Candidate/Sweet Thing did: high school headphone music. Terry Chambers has been quoted as being influenced by John Bonham.. dare we say we want Led Zeppelin with us? I like that album with Community Worker Breakdown on it. Another (40-something) Steve
