I am sixteen years old, and foolishly dream of being a musician myself when I "grow up" (that is if kids stop downloading music). And Iam really not that bad, if I may say so (except for the fact that I am melodically challenged). There are four artists (groups, bands, whatever) who have led me astray this way. Here they are: A.C. Newman - He blurs the line between rock and pop like no other. I love anything he is involved with; Zumpano, the Pornographers, and his solo release are all great. I canat wait to see where this guy goes musically in the coming years. Super Furry Animals - Gruff Rhys and his crew strike me as the absolute coolest people in the world. Most SFA fans seem to like Radiator best, but I prefer Fuzzy Logic. All of their albums are awesome, though. Elliott Smith - I never hear XTC fans talk about him. I wonder why. Anyway, once again, this may seem blasphemous to his fans, but I enjoy his last three albums best. Itas a shame about Elliott. XTC - Who else? My dad is a huge XTC fan and Iave been listening to them since before I was born. They are my first musical memory. I canat pick out a favorite album I like them all so much. Sorry for putting you through that. Riley Johnson Montana, USA Others I like: the Weakerthans, Ben Folds, and Neutral Milk Hotel to name a few.

Yahoo group/mailing list: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/urghmusic/ You'll find up-to-date information about the movie, music, bands, and so on. It's no Chalkhills, but it's somewhat educational. If you're an URGH! fan, you should definitely take a look. One of the members offers a two-DVD set of the entire movie, uncut, and will throw in the soundtrack on two CDs as well. (The literal soundtrack from the movie, not the released soundtrack.) I have it and am quite pleased with the picture and sound quality -- much better than the video I taped off of cable some fifteen/twenty years ago! Actually, he offers a *pile* of music videos/movies from the Seventies and Eighties that he's transferred to DVD. These are mostly out of print and living in legal limbo-land as far as DVD rights go -- he claims if any of his offerings are released commercially on DVD, he'll pull his copies. I've only got URGH! but others on the URGH! list give him thumbs up on the quality of his products. His site is http://www.anisoshal.com. I guess I should say that I don't know Mr. Antisoshal, don't receive any compensation for mentioning his website, etc. I am merely a man who has gone off on a tangent and thought some of you might find his catalog interesting. So glad to hear whatever y'all have to say, especially when it comes to listing favorite music that I'd never heard before, or to hear names popping up on lists that I've also liked for many years. It is, therefore, amazing to hear Jason Falkner's name pop up again and again. I wish he had more of a following. Yeah, I hate to seem so pissed off all the time, but I was reminded when reading of Kate Bush on someone's desert island disks list, that I missed my once-in-a-lifetime chance to purchase everything Kate, fully remastered with all B-sides and rareties in one box! When I'd first heard about THIS WOMAN'S WORK, as an import, I thought it was a box of singles, dub mixes, etc. for the avid completist. Yes, I'm a completist, but I'd not spend that much money on dub mixes of the same song, remembering the vinyl single for "The Dreaming". It's an interesting novelty, but not essential to me in the long run. I went on believing that this was a box set of singles, especially when it showed up repackaged in a case resembling a box that we used to carry vinyl singles in. No one could tell me, in the stores I went to, just what the box contained...until it abruptly went out of print and *THEN* I learned that it actually contained *EVERYTHING* that Kate Bush ever recorded, fully digitally remastered and sounding obviously better'n ever! All I could thing about, seethingly, is that U.S. version of her wonderful album, NEVER FOREVER as it *STILL* appears on CD with horrible track incryptions that occur a note or two into the song. In fact, the first song cuts out the clang of the first piano chord!! What was her label, Geffen? Oh, crap! Guess we won't ever see this chance again, eh? At least the golddiggers at Warner Brothers reissue back catalogues both packed up in a box *AND* seperately so the suits' pockets are lined while we are given the choices on which configuration we'd like to buy! Come on, creeps, give us a break!! Ah me, I still say that, if the fan base was allowed to respond to reissue campaigns, there would be some interesting projects out there. I don't know if there's a Kate Bush website out there, but I tend to feel that it is as futile as our wishes on this site that the XTC albums would have been reissued in genuine style, aside from the Japanese mini-LP sleeves, genuinely honoring this band's full output. No, the first big box to come out of 2005 is a reissue of the Eagles' back catalogue while the Pogues and Boonetown Rats are seeing reissue campaigns only Overseas!! Pardon the lack of a smiley face, but happy fuckin' New Year!! At least is there any news on FUZZIES 7 and8? Thanks, again, though, for all the suggestions that I read on this list. Kevin

Message-ID: <41FED11D000AD78D@mk-cpfrontend-2.mail.uk.tiscali.com> Hey all, an update on my report from the last digest. the demo copy of Are You Recieving Me, which I had thought was a different recording to the version which appears on Coat of Many Cupboards, is in fact the same recording albeit a different mix and edited. The Coat version is 10 seconds longer because it has an extended guitar solo, eight bars of which have been edited from the pressed single. The mix is also quite different, the Coat version much brighter and crisper with less accent on the keyboards. Still a fascinating find though. Also, whilst mooching through my 7" vinyl I discovered a one-sided test pressing of The Man Who saled Around His Soul, which I had completely forgotten about. Does this mean that there is a 7" one sided test of The Meeting Place in existence too? Darryl Darryl W. Bullock www.writesight.com/writers/thisispop
