These 2 bands are my last two purchases. I agree with Ross Millard. They
should do a show together.
I saw The Futureheads on 2/22 in Philly. What a great band. They are now my
new favorite band. I can't get enough of their CD.
Their CD replaces DDIHC's in my player.
I'm 43 years old & I'm jumping around my house to this band.
Aaaah, new found youth.

Finally got around to buying Fuzzy Warbles 1 to 6.

I'm a happy bunny.

"Goosey Goosey" is making my so-far shitty year seem a lot better
already. Ooh the fade out with the "Pink Thing" stylee "goosey-goosey"!

I think I'll contribute to Mr Yazbek's ever increasing pile of cash
next. (Hey, get them to change your website so it tells the poor newbies
what track's playing on what page).

My recommendation of the week "Super" by Mathieu Boogaerts. Light,
smiley, French.

Most of you won't like it. Though.

Yo, yo, yo!

Is anyone from Ye Olde Chalkhills going to see Robyn Hitchcock in
Northampton, MA on March 28th? E-mail me off list if you're planning
on making the trek. Perhaps we could have dinner somewhere and discuss
the relative merits of XTC vs. Hitchock (the rematch!)

Hi Hill dwellers,

Whilst chatting to a friend on the Yahoo group XTC Collectors last week we
got to discussing, as you do, our own collections. During the course of that
convesation he and I posted a few photos of said rarities in the group's
photo albums.

One of the items he had to share was a white lable promo of Are You
Recieveing Me, a gift from many years ago which had been autographed by
Andy, Colin, Dave and Terry. When Andy signed the piece he commented that he
was surprised to see it, that he did not think the disc had ever been
pressed. From his comments, Mark (the owner of the disc) and I were both
under the impression that it contained the Coat version of the track, a nice
rarity for sure.

However, having listened to the two cuts this week I was surprised to find
that the A side actually contains a completely different recording to either
of the released versions. This one is similar in style to the outtake
vesrion, but has different vocals, different instrumentation and is a good
10 seconds shorter. The version of Instant Tunes on the b-side is identical
to the released one.

The disc has authentic Virgin matrix numbers, only with a 5 suffix on the
A-side. Does anyone know of any other copies of this record in existence?
It's not an acetate, but a finished pressing, albeit with white
labels. Virgin mussed have pressed many more copies, so are any of them
still out there or were they all recalled and destroyed?

I trust that it is authentic. Mark and his family came from Swindon and his
brother was great friends with the members of DG's earlier band Alehouse.
He has met the band many times and has tons of autographed and rare stuff,
early Helium Kidz posters anmd the like. The source is impeccible, and I'm
exceedingly jealous!

I'd appreciate any help on this one. I want it, and I don't want to pay over
the odds!

In eXTaCy,

Darryl

For those interested (and living in NE Ohio, and why in the hell are you
living in NE Ohio?), the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque will be
showing our heros in full digital sound in "URGH! A Music War." The
Cinematheque is showing a "rare" print that for some reason does not
include the Pere Ubu (odd, since they are from Cleveland) and Magazine
performances. I remember a few years ago the Sundance Channel showed a
restored print of the movie that excluded the Gary Numan and Splodgeness
Abounds performances.

WHY, OH WHY can't somebody restore this film, re-release it on DVD, and
re-issue the soundtrack with ALL of the bands included? Is there a
conspiracy on the loose here? Does it involve a second gunman? The
CIA? Or maybe the Freemasons?

If you are interested, the show times are:

Friday, March 11, at 9:10 pm &
Saturday, March 12, at 7:30 pm

No XTC content. Just some great songs you should listen to again. But
damn I miss them. Fuzzys don't quite do it for me.

Author Unknown - Jason Faulkner. That many hooks should be illegal.
Daisies of the Galaxy and Jeannie's Diary - Eels - Go out and buy
Daisies. Great record from beginning to end.
Love Is Stronger Than Death - The The
Steppin' Out - Joe Jackson. Funky and sophisticated in the same song.
What a trick.
Little Arithmetics and Serpentine - dEUS. Sometimes a bit weird for me.
But they be spot on.
Sweethearts - Camper Van Beethoven. Key Lime Pie is one of the most
underrated records. Ever.
The State That I Am In - Belle and Sebastian
Philosophy - Ben Folds Five
Into Temptation - Crowded House
Flagpole Sitta - Harvey Danger
Before The Hurricane - Martin Newell
Everyday Is Like Sunday - Morrissey
Find The River - REM
Any Major Dude - Steeely Dan. The best cheer-up song ever.
Alcoholiday - Teenage Fanclub
Honky's Ladder - The Afghan Whigs
Bridges - The Blood Oranges
'74-'75 - The Connells
Two Hearts - The Jayhawks
Weightlifting, Genius I Was, and Hayfever - The Trashcan Sinatras. Go
out and buy all their records now, damnit. They are awesome.

Any recommendations, post em up.
Ben
