Just thought I'd mention...in my quest for collecting Joni Mitchell covers,
I came across a UK acapella group called Naked Voices that just released a
CD this past June titled "All Together", in which they cover Joni's "Chinese
Cafe" and XTC's "River of Orchids" - a very nice acapella choice too I must
say. They have some samples available, not the XTC sadly:

For the trainspotters out there, this is the third CD featuring both an XTC
& a Joni cover...Chalkhill's own Krystyna Olsiewicz recorded "Carey" and
"Chalkhills & Children" on her "Encyclopediac 2", and Mandy Moore did "Help
Me" & "Senses Working Overtime" last year. Hey, it could be a trend; if so,
it's a fairly cool one.

Then there are the artists who have covered XTC & Joni but on separate
releases, Sarah McLachlan is actually the only one that comes to mind. Would
love to hear Terry & The Lovemen do a Joni song!

Which reminds me, I do have a few Forest Green Uffington Horse (no
lettering) shirts left.

Yes, I bought that Primis release as well and am anticipating the
forthcoming release of Adrian Belew and Primis' bass player.  It should be
quite interesting.  I've enjoyed Primis ever since I'd heard Tom Waits'
familiar R&B howl and influence showing up on one of their albums.  Your
assessment of the band is incredibly sharp.  If Don Van Vliet did go back
to music (don't really know why he just quit outright; maybe it was the
same reason why Andy Partridge just ceased all music production for seven
years?), he just might sound like this.  It is very possible that TROUT
MASK REPLICA could be a favorite of this band since one or two members did
participate in an album of Zappa favorites hand-picked by others currently
recording.  If Frank Zappa's music perks 'em up, can Beefheart's best be
far behind?

Lately, I don't always like linking Zappa with Beefheart merely because Don
Van Vliet's wordplay wasn't just silly nonsense sylables.  His is a unique
type of poetry that I'd lately felt that Zappa was just using because he
thought it was irritatingly weird.  The marriage of styles for TROUT MASK
worked because Zappa's way of documenting sessions by recording just about
everything worked, since thinking of colorful prose on the spot was Don's
best way of creating.  This form of creating probably irritated musicians
in his future bands, but it was probably what brought himself and Zappa
together originally.  Great stuff.

So does anyone know whether Adrian Belew's new material has shown up as yet
as, perhaps, on line only product?  Where would I go to seek out such
information?

And I'm still patiently awaiting news on FUZZY WARBLES V and VI.

Well Mr. Versaci, thanks very much for the link.  I had forgotten to check
out the new Tears For Fears cd yesterday when I was in one of my local
record shops.  Today, I had a chance to hear the first three tracks at
another place and was sold.  The review at allmusic is just about spot on.
Matter of fact, a few of the harmonies that I heard were very reminiscent of
Crowded House.

A very enjoyable cd.
