Andy: “Some of that cutlery ["EPNS"], no doubt, stirred a fine cuppa the day I dropped in to try this one out on Gregsy. After hastily ‘banging it down’, my fears were confirmed, maybe it was just a touch too syrupy for XTC. But points for trying. I get to work out on Dave's primitive guitar synth though. Recorded 7th Feb 1984.”

Lyrics

Sun is perching on my office block. The air conditioning's run away. No one dares to swim the street below while the world's a ball of baking clay. Never knew a summer hot as this before. I never knew a summer burn me through. Never knew a summer hot as this before. But then I never knew you. Bed is drowning me in sheets of fire. What are you doing in my dreams? I'm usually immune to August heat but you're reducing me to tiny streams. Never knew a summer hot as this before. I never knew a summer burn me through. Never knew a summer hot as this before. But then I never knew you. You melt me down enough to fill a coffee cup and what I've found is that I spend all day dreaming that you'll drink me up. Never knew a summer hot as this before. I never knew a summer burn me through. Never knew a summer hot as this before. But then I never knew you. Never knew a summer hot as this before.
