Lyrics

Birds beware, expect me up there
me and air are feeling light today
jets should hide, I'll fly alongside
me and pride are bolted tight today

I've been set off by a pretty little girl

I'm like a rocket from a bottle shot free
I've been just explosive since you lit me
I've been up with the larks
I've been shooting off sparks

and I'm feeling in love

I'm a rocket from a bottle shot free
I've been just explosive since you kissed me
I've been up in the clouds
I've been shrugging off shrouds

and I'm feeling in love

Hate step back, my smile might just crack
can't stop grins from going wide today
hell look sharp, angels play your harp
I feel strong like the tide today

Hi !
Here's the bass tablatures for the 11 (great) songs from the classic "Black Sea". A lot of repetitive bass lines, but also some tricky parts. Sorry if there's any mistakes, and I hope you'll enjoy those basslines as much as I do.
Cheers,
Florian.

Here is the solo for Rocket From A Bottle. I divide the solo up into 4
sections. The first section is a sort of parallel diatonic 5th run in
F Lydian, and you will note that it's necessary to STRETCH to make the
runs on the lower frets, use 3 fingers per three notes and shift the
same three fingers in the same pattern (I use my index, middle and
pinkie for these 5th runs):

    i m p i m p i m p i m p i m - m
E|-------------------------------------12------12/19--
B|--------------------------10-----10------10---------
G|-----------------7-----7------7---------------------
D|--------5-----5-----5-------------------------------
A|-----3-----3----------------------------------------
E|--1-------------------------------------------------

The 2nd section is an interesting riff, with the more of a parallel
5th theme again. However, each minor 6th interval jump to the adjacent
string follows up with the 2 notes below it in the Lydian mode scale
to keep with a 3 note per string pattern, finally ending the run on
the chord root:

    i m p i m p i m p i m p i m p m
E|-------------------------------------------------15--13--
B|-------------------------------------15--12--13----------
G|-----------------7--4--5--12--9--10----------------------
D|--------5--2--3------------------------------------------
A|-----3---------------------------------------------------
E|--1------------------------------------------------------

The 3rd section is a repeat of the 1st section moved up a minor third
(same fingering pattern as section 1):

E|----------------------------------------15------15/22--
B|----------------------------13------13------13---------
G|-----------------10-----10------10---------------------
D|--------8-----8------8---------------------------------
A|-----6-----6-------------------------------------------
E|--4----------------------------------------------------

The last section is a rehash of section 3's riff, but the underlying
chord progression goes from C to B, so once you move to the B string
in the progression, you can see the pattern shifts down a half step
(same fingering pattern as section 2):

E|--------------------------------------------16--13--14--19--
B|--------------------------------14--11--12------------------
G|--------------------14--11--12------------------------------
D|---------12--9--10------------------------------------------
A|-----10-----------------------------------------------------
E|--8---------------------------------------------------------

Enjoy!

OK, my first posting. please be gentle. i just want to say that
that's been done with no keyboard or organ at hand, so i can't
be more precise about the chords. that's why here you'll only
find the basic chords: it's up to you, people that can write,
read and dissect chords, to finish this work. so here it goes,
all the songs in the XTC catalogue that hadn't been tabbed in
this great site, from "black sea" to "nonsuch". you won't find
anything from "mummer" because the whole album has already been
"chorded" in this site.

don't expect any riffs or arpeggios, BTW. that's as far as my
skills go...

maybe i should be ashamed to post something like this (so
incomplete, wrong and childish) but it's just for the sake of
people who just want to strum XTC songs and sing and don't care
much if this is a sus4, added or other bollocks chord (and i must
point that i am one of those who really care, so i'm willing to
read all kinds of comments and corrections). please, john relph,
erase every transcription of mine as soon as a proper tab of each
song made by any other XTC fan who's more trained on guitar than me
comes to your mail.

songs like "the somnambulist" or "seagulls..." were meant to be
played on keyboards and sound terrible on guitar. beware!

ROCKET FROM A BOTTLE
intro: F
verse: F-Bb and then C-G (maybe G7)
bridge ("i've been set off..."): D#
chorus: F-C and then C-G
middle 8/solo: F-F-G#-C-B
last chorus goes down a semitone (E-B B-F)
end on C#m but let the E-low string ring and add other dissonances

hope that will be useful for somebody.
merry Xmas!
