  1. Album version, 4'55.
Performed by The Dukes of Stratosphear.
    Released on Psonic Psunspot.
    Sir John Johns - drums.

Andy: “ ‘Pale And Precious’ is pretty obvious (A fine Beach Boys pastiche); that was the most difficult one to do. It's the best melody - the surf bit was a bit stupid - but the chords are churchy and Bach and all the stuff that Brian Wilson was into at the time.”
Gary Pig Gold: “Andy imitating Eric Carmen initating Brian (with Dennis ‘Be Still’ keyboard). Brian ‘Heroes and Villians’ bass tone... and NOTES!, but mellotron makes it distinctly British. Also ‘Help Me Rhonda’ ba-ba-ba's. ‘California Girls’ jaunty keyboard riffs in middle part.”

Lyrics

So pale and precious is the light that will shine
Out of the windows in her head
So pale and precious like the sun as it climbs
Up every morning on her bed

If all of her moments were put down in a book
Then I could read it 'til I went blind
If all of the tears she cried flowed into a brook
Well than I'm sure it would taste like wine
Don't care what the others might say
As far as I'm concerned they can all fall apart
Fade away

So pale and precious is the light that will shine
Out of her perfumed golden hair
So pale and precious are the steps that I climb
Up to her room so bright and bare

If all of the things she said were flowers and trees
Well then her garden would always be green
If all of our time together fell on one day
It would be like every Christmas there's been

Don't care what the others might say
As far as I'm concerned they can all fall apart
Fade Away

Up she rises each and every morning
She blows the stars out of the sky
And lights the sun with her bright eyes

The smell of the pinecones
And the sea in her hair

I was messing around with "Pale and Precious" and found the contribution on
Chalkhills, while very well done and very helpful, to be a tad inscrutable
in spots, at least to a keyboard player.

So I notated out the intro (attached as an image file).
Also offering what I think are some slightly more accurate chord changes:

    Ab Abmaj7
If all of her moments were put down in a book
                   Bb7 Eb7sus4 Ab
Then I could read it 'til I went blind

... ...

Cm F
Don't care what the others might say
    Bb7 Eb7sus4
As far as I'm concerned they can all fall apart
           F G A7 Bb+
Fade away uh huh fade away, fade away uh huh

... ...

(the first four chords really isn't a series of separate chords as written,
but just the bass note walking down under a static C#)

C# C#/C C#/Bb
  The smell of the pinecones
C#/Ab F#+9 G#7sus4
And the sea in her hair
F#+9 G#7sus4

Pale and Precious

the (maj7)(sus4)s are just an indication of what seems to be going on in
the opening phrase -
anyone trained to name chords properly can sort out the ones where
keyboard actuality and self-taught guitar limitations collide!
