Lyrics

Coat of Many Cupboards version:

Just a casual thing
Not really worth the mention
Didn't hurt a bit
That's an end to it

But if you didn't mind
Can we change the subject now?
It's history
Anyone can see

And after all, I'm a man of the world
People come to me 'cause I know the score

And if you see the gang
Say I'm a free man
Be sure to tell 'em it didn't hurt a bit

Just a bit of fun
Meant more to her than me
I didn't mind a bit
Did it for a bet

In another week
I won't remember the name
But if it's all the same
Didn't hurt a bit

My appearance isn't what you surmise
It's just a piece of grit that got in my eye

Whatever you've heard
Whatever you know
Well put 'em straight, it didn't hurt a bit

Lots of rumours flying 'round
Meant to deceive
It's my word against hers
So who are you going to believe?

Just a casual thing
Not really worth the mention
Didn't hurt a bit
Did it for a bet

But if you didn't mind
Can we change the subject now?
Didn't hurt a bit
That's an end to it

After all, I'm a man of the world
People come to me 'cause I know the score

So if you see the gang
Say I'm a free man
Be sure to tell 'em it didn't hurt a bit

Whatever you do
Whatever you say
Be sure to tell 'em it didn't hurt a bit

I'm all right
I'm okay
I'm all right
Didn't hurt a bit

Demo version:

Just a casual thing
Not really worth a mention
Didn't hurt a bit
Didn't hurt a bit

But if you didn't mind
Can we change the subject now?
Didn't hurt a bit
Really didn't hurt a bit

And after all, I'm a man of the world
People come to me 'cause I know the score

And if you see the gang
Say I'm a free man
Be sure to tell 'em
It didn't hurt a bit

Just a bit of fun
Didn't alter a thing
Didn't hurt a bit
That's an end to it

In another week
I won't remember the name
But it's all the same
Didn't hurt a bit

My appearance isn't what you surmise
It's just a piece of grit that got in my eye

Whatever you do
Whatever you know
Well I'll put up straight
It didn't hurt a bit

Lots of rumours flying 'round
Plans to decieve
It's my word against hers
Who are you going to believe?

Just a casual thing
Not really worth a mention
Didn't hurt a bit
Didn't hurt a bit

But if you didn't mind
Can we change the subject now?
Didn't hurt a bit
That's an end to it

And after all, I'm a man of the world
People come to me 'cause I know the score

And if you see the gang
Say I'm a free man
But be sure to tell 'em it didn't hurt a bit

Whatever you do
Whatever you say
Be sure to tell 'em it didn't hurt a bit

Noooooo!
Noooooo!
Yeaaaaah!

Hello Jan,

Glad you're back - I'm certain the D, A and G are the three main
chords - stick with it. I did do a bit of work on trying to note it
down. The 'And after all.....' bit is a bit of a bugger - I tend to
improvise around the D a bit and it comes out sort of O.K......Here's
what I make it, so far....

Intro: D-A-D-A-G-A-G-A-

D A D
Just a casual thing
        A
Not really worth a mention
    G A
Didn't hurt a bit
    G A D
Didn't hurt a bit
             A D
But if you didn't mind
             A
Can we change the subject now?
    G A
Didn't hurt a bit
    G A
Really didn't hurt a bit

Impr. Around D
And after all, I'm a man of the world
                             A
People come to me 'cause I know the score

D A D
And if you see the gang
             A
Say I'm a free man
   G
Be sure to tell 'em
   A F D D
It didn't hurt a bit

Then there's the break in the middle....

Fmin(?) Fmin
Lots of rumours flying 'round
G A
Plans to decieve
Fmin Fmin
It's my word against hers
G A
Who are you going to believe?

Guitar solo is per the verse

Maybe we need some professional help here?

Mind you, I've got 'Young Marrieds' nailed good and proper - I'll post
again here soon......

Cheers.
