Zevon's "Stand In The Fire" is a great live LP. I did a nice transfer to disc and would be happy to burn a copy for anyone who wants to send a B&P. 2. Speaking of rockers recording music for video games, has anyone else played the Replacements games (Freakshow & A Bad Day on the Midway)? I picked up the latter but not the former, it was really bizarre, but in a good way if you know what I mean. What else would one expect from The Residents? 3. Bootlegs & Ebay: I used to be really over-zealous about reporting them to ebay, but found that nothing was ever done. The basic response I got from them was that unless *I* was the copyright holder for the movie/music/whatever, I didn't have the right to report them. I agree that a lot of sellers will pull their auctions if you press them, but most don't pull them & ebay doesn't seem to be overly anxious to do so either. After all, every sale is a jingle in their pocket. I've noticed that some artists really police it, and others don't. I still have many Warbles to cross...#2 is on the way. Hope to be caught up in a month or so. Thanks for the reviews of them, I find them fascinating, although I do have some of the tracks. And like all y'all, I'm chomping for some new XTC material! Bob

This will be their second time here in Buffalo. Last year, they were rained out. Hopefully this year they won't be rained out. The weather doesn't look promising though. They're talking about a chance of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow evening. I hope it holds out until after 9pm when the concert's over. I wonder if they'll sing, "25 O'Clock". Also, this upcoming weekend, I'm going to my Mom's to see out hometown's annual hot air balloon rally. I couldn't this post go by without comment - it's good to know it's not just me. Apart from the obvious exception, Crispy Ambulance are, for me, probably the most interesting band that came out of the Factory Records stable. Their brilliantly unfashionable album, The Plateau Phase, is the only album that I have played constantly for the last 20 or so years. With the exception of one or two interested music journalists, they were pretty much, lazily, written off as Joy Division copyists at the time. Their connections to Joy Division were mostly geographic and though they inevitably worked with many of the same producers and studio technicians, their music inhabited a different sphere. After a gap of 18(ish) years, they reformed last year and recorded a new album entitled Scissorgun, which pretty much picks up where they left off. I believe they are working on another at the moment. If you have any spare cash, after buying Warbles 3&4 of course, I would urge everyone to get a copy of The Plateau Phase :-) Gary - thanks for drawing my attention to that compilation it sounds pretty interesting. thanks Andrew

I am not a rich man, and have infact often pondered the irony of the fact that recently xtc has released as many albums as they had heretofore in their career, whilst actually only writing/recording three. Be that said, after such a ong drought, i was gald to say my cup overflowed-eth... I bought all FW discs through the web sites for the same reason i buy records (dating myself, i know, but get over it) from bands at concerts. i personally feel it's worth an extra dollar or two to know that more of the money is going into the bands pockets. when i playes, i was always grateful for t-shirt and disc sales because it meant i could eat that night... (enuff about me, but those of you who know me know i know what i'm talking about...) i also have too many of Andy's autographes, but i hold onto the thrill of seeing it the first time... the first FW discs reached me weeks after some on this list has theirs, frustrating, but not the end of the world.... My problem is this (sorry for the extended drum roll): Opening the first package, one CD fell to the floor and shattered. I was mad at myself, and replaced it. Then, weeks later, a friend banged my CD tower with his suitcase and it fell over. Only one CD broke: FW 2 (the one that hadn't before)... I noted the coincidence which seemed to take on added importance when after playinf the added price to buy from APE, the CD's arrived (on time!) but SHATTERED! I kid you not, one of the jewel cases was in two main pieces, with at least twenty others rattling around in there... the other wasn't completely broken int wo, but the front and the hinge were totally cracked. My girlfrined calmed me down and convinced me to buy new cases and forget it, rather than tak emy case to APE. That said, i'd sure like to know: Am i alone in this? has anyone else found, as i did after closer inspection, that the jewel cases are rather flimsy compared to others? mine arrived wrapped half-assed in bubble wrap which was visibly inadequate... it seems a shame for a product that is aimed so clearly at core fans, and which depends so directly on their good will (and i've thought much about certain comments Colin made in Wes' interview), to be so shoddy in execution. The music's the thing (to paraphrase Bill S.), but seeing that we're to have as many FW discs (sans M Moulding), and we're being asked to go the extramile, it would be nice to know our Beloved Mr Partridge was doing the same for us. i'll buy the next ones. i admit it. but i'm not proud of it, and i'm not happy feeling this way. kisses from the French riveira, don device -- "I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have someone like me as a member." -Groucho Marx
