Hello (y')all .... and Southern salutations to you from the state of North
Carolina.

In Chalkhills 17-10 (just received today as a matter of fact), the
inquisitive Jack D sent the following missive ~

> Good Morning Chalkids...

> mass appeal and I ask myself "Who are the world's greatest bands you've

Jackie, Jackie, Jackie!! Believe it or not, there are indeed some of us -
especially here in the South - who not only have heard of the mighty NRBQ,
but have also shown an undying dedication towards them (not unlike the same
dedication to The Swindon Three/Four) for many many moons! Terry Adams and
Co. are the epitome of the term "the BEST rock and roll club band" out
there. I'm not ashamed at all to proclaim that I absolutely LOVE them! And
to know that Terry is now carrying on the 'Q name with his new band members
(formerly and collectively known as The Terry Adams Rock & Roll Quartet)
only makes me smile that much more. Their latest release - "Keep This Love
Goin'" - is a must-have for any lingering 'Q fans out there and I can't
really day enough good things about it without sounding corny about it.
(Have I already reached that point? Who knows? Who cares?!) The music
still speaks for itself, folks ... and if NRBQ ever do show up in
a venue near you, pleeeeeeeeeeeease do yourselves and favor and GO SEE
THEM!!! With fans like Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, and so many others out
there, it's gotta mean something, right? THE 'Q ROCKS - plain and simple.

Thanks, Jack, for bringing their name to the XTC table. It's wonderful to
know that there are others out there who've also heard of a band that still
matters in this world.

As far as your question is concerned though, I'd like to add my three
answers here:

1. Iron And Wine
2. Liquid Mind
3. The General Store

Any takers on these three names? I'll be waiting ....

Laterness ~

/Danno

"Harry is more famous than his dad!

I see a lot of Andy's irreverent quick wit in Harry's cartoons, as
well as his musical ability. My wife has grown tired of my constant
references to "Hitler's Singing Vagina" already.

Some of what Andy has said recently leads me to believe he's done
releasing his own new material. He said something to the effect of
it's a game for young people and old people just tend to embarrass
themselves. I somewhat agree, but Elvis Costello has put out some of
his strongest material in 20 years recently. I would gladly trade in
10 Mighty Like a Roses for just 1 Secret, Profane and Sugarcane.
Two Digests in a month! Let's go for 3!
