the "greatest band" thing finds a home here doesn't it
but i have to say i'm always bothered seeing them on the
one-hit-wonders type compilations as that they are not -- especially
when one considers the common implication of that phrase which that is
ALL they are known for. argh. horrible.

Very much looking forward to this. I've not heard a set of live XTC
tunes since the 1993 XTC convention in Princeton, IL. It seems that
Roger Klug was asked to open this show, but that fell through. Nothing
against opener Bri Love (not Brian Lovely), but Roger opening would
have been -perfect-.

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans)
this week, we're putting out a call for questions for the next
interview with Andy, which will cover his opinions about
guitar-playing and guitarists. Check out the Call for Questions blog
(http://blogs.myspace.com/xtcfans), and ask away, if you're so
inclined. We can't guarantee that we'll get to each one, of course,
but we'll try.

Just to let you know that one of my (other) favourite bands; the French band
'Les France Cartigny' (formerly known as 'France Cartigny') have on their
latest album (called "Les Meilleurs', released in 2008) a picture with the
musicians and a few record sleeves in the foreground to the right. If you
look carefully, you can identify the sleeve of one of the best albums of our
favourite band.

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans),
Andy takes a look back at his beginnings as a guitar player (while the
song of the week is a repost of "Church of Women," which contains a
solo he's particularly proud of).

If you want to know whether or not young Andy joined in with the girls
in the theater who screamed while first watching "A Hard Day's Night,"
or which psychedelic band provided the impetus for his first big
breakthrough as a lead guitarist -- or even if you want to ask him a
guitar-related question -- check out the XTCfans blog site at
http://blogs.myspace.com/xtcfans.

Greetings from the lingering haze of my post-gig buzz.

Had a great time at Leisureas XTC tribute show last night at Molly Malone's
in Covington, KY. The band obviously had spent some quality time nailing
down the songs and it showed throughout their set. There were lots of high
points, but a few that really knocked me out were "Burning With Optimism's
Flames," "Melt The Guns," "Wrapped In Grey," "Mermaid Smiled (!!!)," &
"Snowman." My voice is a bit rough today from singing along with pretty much
every song. Also, it turns out that there were at least three alumni there
from the 1993 XTC Music & Friends Convention in Princeton, IL. Mark (one of
the band members), Arthur (from Northern KY), & myself had a good yak about
it all. Many thanks to Jude putting this gig together and for posting the
notice on the aHills!

The tribute band "Nigels With Attitude" announced their next show via
their Facebook page on Sunday. The show will be on Wednesday, April
14th at the Earl in East Atlanta. The Earl's website
(http://badearl.com/) isn't updated with information yet, nor is there
a a link to buy tickets yet, but both should be up soon.

Hey alls-

The fantastic XTC tribute band Nigels With Attitude is playing The
Earl in Atlanta on April 14.

It's not a basement pick-up band. These men are pros. The band is led
by Tim Smith and Peter Stroud, both of Sheryl Crow's touring band.
Smith was in Jellyfish and Umajets. Stroud has recorded and toured
with Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, and The Dixie Chicks. The rest of the
band is less famous, but also great.

Here's what I wrote about them last summer:

Here's a link to buy tickets to the show:

If you come from out of town and want to share a beer or dinner before
the show, drop me a note.

Chalkfolk,

Longtime lurker (holy cow, it's been a long time), rare poster. Blah
blah blah.

So, after ten years in the same house, me and the missus and the three
little monsters are pulling-up stakes and heading to a new venue. And
as we're cleaning up and getting ready, what do I come across? Yup, you
guessed it, a pile of vintage Little Express
fanzines/newsletters/tomes/nuggets o'hope. I used to treasure these,
and I still do, but realizing it had been over 10 years since I last
looked through them, I've decided that maybe there's a more dedicated
collector out there who'd like them.

Is there?

I have the following issues: Summer 1985 through Winter 1994, almost
complete. If I'm missing one, I can't figure out why, or which it might
be. Not like these were assigned perfect dates.

If you're interested in having these gems, I'll part with them for the
cost of return shipping and/or a sweet XTC product, such as a sticker or
t-shirt or some such. Mostly just return shipping. 1.12 kg or 2.5
pounds, if you must know.

Reply to todd(dot)savelle(at)gmail(dot)com if you're interested.

Thanks, and looking forward to the XTC reunion tour of 2015,
Todd Savelle
