It was very out of the blue but ended up being a lot of fun. We're going to reprise the sets for public consumption next month, and I thought I'd mention it here just in case anyone in the greater Cincinnati area felt like coming out. (A few years ago we put on a performance of the entire Ziggy Stardust album - this is going to be decidedly less of a spectacle, but hopefully no less entertaining!) *Leisure plays XTC Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 9:30pm 3rd floor, Molly Malone's 112 East 4th Street Covington, KY* *$5 Ages 21+* Our official band web site is http://www.leisureband.com, and you can view our Facebook event page here: http://www.facebook.com/#/event.php?eid=258237171986&ref=mf Thanks for your consideration, and may 2010 bring us even more in the way of XTC goodness, Jude

Earlier this month I watched this program and was surprised to see XTC on the list. Not surprisingly, Chris Butler (Purple K'nif, The Waitresses) was on the segment and called them the "greatest band of all time". Who can argue? http://blog.vh1.com/2009-04-01/100-greatest-one-hit-wonders-of-the-80s-read-the-list-2/

And thanks also to those of you who left me a comment. But how about this? One of the people who commented was actually in the Dear God video. Yes!! How cool is that? Anyway, maybe now I need to use a Dukes video soon....??? Oh, and the blog is http://www.stevenology.com in case you are so inclined. Anyway, thanks again for the visits and the comments. Steve

"Up on Hi" truly *is* like a new XTC record (with female backing vocals). Picked it up digitally from APE a few minutes ago. Also, I see on the APE site that Andy is preparing to rerelease *Rag & Bone Buffet* with additional tracks, and has issued a call for suggestions. I've added mine. -- Benjamin D. Generally I'm not much for surfing and listening to unknown bands (my loss, i'm sure), but this time i hoppe don over and was nicely surprised. Not only is there a strong XTC influence (without aping it too closely, ie Futureheads et al), but there are storng stuctures and lovely harmonies as well as an occasionally assymetric, jagged guitar that deconstructs the melody nicely... I hear little bits of our boys, the fabs, as well as Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel and Gentle Giant.. haven't listened to the lyrics closely yet, but I shall... (I am in no way affilliated with this group).. They are called FIELD MUSIC... check 'em out if you are so inclined: http://www.myspace.com/fieldmusic

Old news, but Gabriel's 'Scratch My Back' project is cool. -Richard ================================================== Real World Remixed is coming out of hibernation. http://realworldremixed.com We've just added a new sample pack, Charlie Winston's 'Hobo', one of the biggest hits of last summer in France, and that's just the start of a flurry of activity. Coming up in the next few days we are going to have the first in a new series of packs and competitions from Peter Gabriel. 'Not One of Us' will be made available here at the same time as it is released as half of the first 'double a-side' release from his collaborative 'Scratch My Back' project. http://petergabriel.com The first pair of songs from the 'Scratch My Back' (and I'll scratch yours project) will be released on iTunes on this month's full moon. The 'double a-side' will see Peter's cover of The Magnetic Fields song 'The Book of Love' from their acclaimed '69 Love Songs' ("three hours during which the quality hardly drops below stunning" The Guardian), and their - or more precisely Stephin Merritt's version of 'Not One of Us' from Peter's third solo album (One of Q Magazine's top 100 Greatest British Albums Produced by Steve Lillywhite, this album of May 1980 features Jerry Marotta and Phil Collins drumming, the guitar of Robert Fripp, David Rhodes, Paul Weller and XTC's Dave Gregory) More details will be coming soon, particularly on the competition. In the meantime, we hope you like Charlie Winston's 'Hobo'. "The gorgeous Like a Hobo - a No 1 single in France - goes the whole pensive hog, with minor chords and whistling, while Tongue-Tied, a flirtation with jazz that's partly sung in Suffolk-accented French, is a showcase for Winston's excellent band. A worthy contender for la petite sensation de 2010 in the UK." The Guardian Check out http://realworldremixed.com for updates.
