Hey Chalkies!

re: the funeral songs thread -- I'm always nominating songs for my funeral.

The XTC content will be "Towers of London", played as loudly as possible. My
current list also includes Spectrum's "I'll Be Gone" (Aussie 70s classic),
some Zappa -- probably either "Zoot Allures" or "Sofa" and as the coffin
goes down, I've given orders that I'm to be played out with The Tubes' "What
Do You Want From Life".

ChalkAll,

Sorry for the double post last time. I thought the first email had
simply disappeared into the ether, alas...

Good news is, I was able to get the concert downloaded, thanks to the
help of Rich MacDonald, and it was worth the effort!

You do have to sign up to do so, and it will tell you it's full, but
they clear the decks every ten minutes, or so they say. I was able to
sign up after a mere 579 tries!

Worth it though! Quite a few concerts of our boys and other talked-
about acts on this list...

xo,

Hi everybody
I'm a lurking digester. Can Somebody tell me what the 1980 concert that was
mentioned below is? And where it was torrented?
Thanks for any help
Brad

Woah!

I just visited Mystic Disc, the used vinyl store in Mystic, CT (where
I am vacationing). $100 later, I walked out with the following
albums, all M/M:

Wonderland b/w Jump 7"
Great Fire b/w Gold 7" (I got three copies, actually, all with the
original plastic sleeve; anyone want one?)
Love on a Farmboy's Wages b/w In Loving Memory of a Name, Toys, Desert
Island double 7"
All You Pretty Girls b/w Washaway 12"
This World Over b/w Blue Overall 12"
The Meeting Place b/w The Man Who Sailed... 12"
The Loving b/w Cynical Days, The World is Full... 12"
Wake Up b/w Take This Town/Mantis on Parole and Nigel/Sgt. Rock/Senses
12"

Can you believe it?

As I said on MySpace, because of this, my life is now complete ... thus
rendering the need for a name-check song by Mr. P irrelevant. As for Simon's
kind suggestion that I drum on any such song, I've already told Andy that,
if he ever tours again, I'd cut his balls off if he uses a drummer besides
me. So I'm covered there, too.

He's so scared, he's told me he'll never tour again.

And if you're ever in Barre, VT, his sister Ariel owns a restaurant
there. It's a free-thinking kind of place that tries to use local
produce whenever possible, her mom lives in Barre too, she actually
moved there with the kids when she and Warren split up. She and
Warren actually met for the first time in Waitsfield, VT, where
Warren was playing in a cover band that had an extended residency in
a club up there, she was in the audience, they got talking after the
show, the rest is history.

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "You're the Wish You Are I Had."

If you want to know why this song reminds Andy of "Fixing a Hole," or
how Zippy Zither has "earned his corn," check out the XTCfans blog
site at http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

Little did I know that on a rainy day
All the little wishes I had put away
Would bring you...

Gang,

My sixth graders are all abuzz (on e-mail, of course; it's still
summer vacation) over the new Jonas Brothers album, which was produced
(and recorded) by former Chalkhillian John "Strawberry" Fields. (As
you might remember, John also produced the Mandy Moore album on which
she covered "Senses Working Overtime" and much of Glen Phillips's
"Winter Pays For Summer.")

How long until we hear the Jonas Brothers covering "The Mayor(s) of
Simpleton"?
