Giving Andy and whomever he works with next time to give birth to the
next musical baby, Chalkhills continues to keep the loosely
associated, well loosely associated.

I've come to realize that beyond a love and respect for XTC's
creative output, we share a certain sensibility that tends to
translate to an appreciation for other projects and groups. I'm
grateful for the recommendations I've gleaned here over the years
that have brought much pleasure. It's in that spirit that I make one
of my own. .

It was purely by accident that I happened upon Trip Shakespeare, a
group that had never before shown up on my radar. I can only speak
for the one CD I was able to find, but it's a real winner. "Lulu" was
released by A&M back in 1991 and it's stunning from top to bottom. If
you're a 'hooks and harmonies' fan of well-crafted pop ( sound
familiar?), this one should definitely find its way to your ears.
There's solid writing, clean production, a thick and assured
instrumental underpinning that supports some of the best three part
harmonies I've heard in ages. Amazon has some available in the 'new
and used' for under ten dollars. One of the guys, Dan Wilson, has
gone on to sing lead with Semisonic and has a great solo CD. "Free
Life."

Of all the music I've actively championed to the uninitiated over the
years - They Might Be Giants, Crowded House, Joe Jackson, Mike
Oldfield and a couple others - - Trip Shakespeare just jumped onto
the short list.

Cheers,
dm

Hey up Hillers,

Found a rather good interview with the MIA Mr Moulding, from 2000 but only
recently rediscovered and posted, at:

www.bongojazz.blogspot.com/2008/02/colin-moulding-of-xtc-previously.html

Well worth a read, especially as at the time he seemed totally up for
involvement in the Fuzzy Warbles project.

damned if it doesnt sound great! both 24/48 dts and 24/96 dvd audio are

ill be damned as to how the heck they did it, but i really do enjoy it!

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "That's Really Super, Supergirl."

If you want to know which Goffin/King song brings back
superhero-related memories for Andy, or what the two variations of the
"Tamla roll" are, check out the XTCfans blog site at
http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

And your friends are going to say
That's really super, Supergirl...

Folks,

Just dropping a note to mention that some of us in the D.C. area are
getting together to attempt to recreate "Go 2". The cast and crew
include famed journalist and wannabe drummer Todd Bernhardt, wonder
glove monkey J.D. Mack and famed journalist and bionic man Harrison
Sherwood on guitar, playboy millionaire Bob Crain on saxaphone, our
host for the evening Jefferson Ogata on his massive swelling organ and
multiple keyboards, Top Man Larry Reed and 80's throwback Steve
Dockery on guitars, and yours truly holding down the bottom (a
favourite activity) on bass. Perhaps others as well. Who's singing?
It's anybody's guess at the moment.

Do any of y'all get together in private to play the music of XTC? I
know there are many of y'all out there who have tribute bands that
play in public.
