Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "I'd Like That."

If you want to know what Andy was doing in Nicky Holland's bedroom
that involves the song, and who his favorite Beatle is, check out the
XTCfans blog site at:

I'd smile so much my face would crack in two,

Exposure was a weird album, especially - in its almost normalcy - for
Fripp. Regarding his work with Barry Andrews, I still love The League
of Gentleman. Too bad they never released another album - or did I
miss something from the vaults?

Greetings!

In this week's edition of "The Onion AV Club," Murray and Phipps take bets
on who's in -- and who's out -- at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. XTC
makes the "Out" list; here's what they have to say:

Why it might make the Hall: By bringing Beatles-esque pop hooks to
post-punk, XTC briefly enjoyed the kind of critical cachet afforded to
surefire Hall-certified geniuses like Elvis Costello. And the current
Sunderland/Newcastle Britpop scene bears a heavy XTC stamp.

Why it might not: XTC also earned the respect of old-guarders like Todd
Rundgren, who isn't in the Hall yet. Nor are The Cars, arguably America's
answer to XTC. A lot of critics find this kind of jagged guitar-pop too
clever by half.

Odds: 40-1. XTC, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs we may need to
build a different Hall Of Fame for the '80s greats bound to be overlooked by
the one in Cleveland.

Did the MTV session ever make it to DVD in some fashion? I did some
searching around, and never found anything. I remember hearing the
guys in Boston when they kicked off the Oranges and Lemons radio
station tour, and I loved listening to it. I really wish I had a
recording of that as well, but seeing and hearing the MTV session
would probably satisfy my mind's longing memories past. I've never
seen any portion of it, but would love a chance to get a look.

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), we
cover one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums -- "Love
on a Farmboy's Wages", from 1983's Mummer.

If you want to know who thought the song was "too ponce-y for him"
(you can probably guess that one) and who used to call Andy a
"jumped-up, tuppenny, ha'penny ticket writer" (though you might not
know that one!), check out the XTCfans blog site at
http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

Soon my darling, soon my darling...

Recorded in 1978 by The Nebular Nobsticks, 'Ellis Island' was rejected
by Virgin for being 'too stupid' and 'not having a tune'. Undeterred,
these four brave lads from Cricklade soldiered on with their 'tweety
farting cheap Farfisa', and, on release, it reached No. 47 in Baffin
Island.

Yes, this is my Dukes style tribute to XTC. Listen to it and weep.
