And may result in a kick ass (pun > intended) compilation. > > Goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exactly. If language is not a sticking point, there are any number of Brazilian and Spanish-language anthems. Search "Popular Music" on Amazon for futbol or futebol (the Portuguese spelling) and you'll turn up some starting points. There's also Kirsty Maccoll's hilarious "England 2 Columbia 0" (Now you can go to hell; I'm going to Brazil) from her sadly posthumous but beautiful "Tropical Brainstorm" album. Relph has told me that Rodgers and Hammerstein's "You'll Never Walk Alone" (the song quoted at the end of Pink Floyd's "Fearless") is a football anthem in England. A little googling turns up Liverpool. -- Jefferson Ogata : Internetworker, Antibozo <ogata@antibozo.net> http://www.antibozo.net/ogata/

Lewis used to be on the newsgroup and hope the movie does well! I know they've put in a few XTC references into the strip over the years - hopefully there is a little easter egg or something in the film although I doubt they'd have that level of editorial control over the film. Even though the soundtrack doesn't have any XTC, it does have Ben Folds (and William Shatner!). m

Our Tel sounded happy, and sends his best regards to all and sundry. He was speaking with Mr Moulding recently, and it transpired that there are still ongoing difficulties with regard to royalty payments and all that kinda rot, between the band and Virgin. Nothing especially new there. But I had to laugh when Terry made reference to former manager Ian Reid, as a charlatan, sunning himself on an exotic beach somewhere, being massaged by a bevy of busty blondes and drinking Pina Coladas at XTC's expense. Tee hee. This stuff is never gonna go away. It haunts the guys daily. It's crap. But the bottom line is that, should there be some kind of resolution of "the troubles" in the near future, that will make the path clear for that definitive DVD we've all been hankering for. YES! Colin has been working on it in the hope of a favourable outcome. Might be sooner than you think. Virgin Records (under EMI now) "owns" most of the material, so that's where the process is fraught. And Terry stressed that it has nothing to do with Sir Richard Branson (former owner of Virgin), whom he has a soft spot for. Witness the film clip for "Generals And Majors". Terry himself is rockin', and rolling with the flow. He's just contributed more than his twenty cents worth to a book about Paul Hewson. No, not Bono. This guy was keyboardist with Dragon, the band which Terry played for during their most successful period (check "Body And The Beat", etc). So that's all nice (after a fashion), but Terry's son Kai, who is arguably the best friggin' drummer in this country, and who I'm proud to call my mate, is going from strength to strength. He's reunited with his old muckers from Starpark, and he says it fits like an old comfortable glove (smell it - Spinal Tap). Watch this space. When he visits me again soon, he's gonna present me with a compilation of his work to date. I suggested the title which he loved (keep in mind, he mounts his cymbals high, just like his dad did): "Skai High - The Revolving Door of a Drummer for Higher". Yuk or yum, depending on your point of view. I for one will be front-row-centre! News bodes well for XTC DVD. Keep your fingers and other appendages crossed. True friends are to be treasured. How many fingers on YOUR hand? Oh, Adrian Belew just belew us all to smithereens t'other night, but that's another story- Now playing: Ups & Downs "Underneath The Watchful Eye" - thanks Dom. WHY???! how "perfect" does a home demo have to be before it finally gets your okay / approval to be released?? good gawd, man! i think it's time for you to shit or get off the pot, andy. you're losing fans here through your procrastination, whether you're unaware of it already or you simply don't give a fuck about us anymore ..... (( sigh ))
