I don't see why it should be taboo... anyway, this "Apple Bite" is the
same promo CD that was sent to radio stations and retailers. I was lucky
enough to get my hands on one since I work at Amazon but I do wish
they had put "Spiral" and "Say It" out as a commercial single/EP--I would
certainly have bought one.

A very good source told me that the piano on Colin's tune is by
Thomas Walsh of Pugwash.

Controversial, I know, but I find myself preferring this one to
Andy's effort. Colin has that whole Ray Davies thing down pat now.
True, he only seems to write a song every five years... but it's
quite a good one.

The Colin/Andy contrast is quite marked these days. I'm reminded of
Lennon's nasty remarks about McCartney: "These stories about boring
people doing boring things - being postmen and secretaries and
writing home. I'm not interested in third party songs. I like to
write about me, 'cos I know me."

No prizes for guessing who's playing which role in the XTC scenario.

By the way, did anybody hear Lennon's interview with Jan Wenner on
BBC radio this week? The material was old (somewhere I have a book of
these interviews) but it was still interesting to hear the great man
of peace explaining how he wished he'd punched George for being nasty
to Yoko. (I take it this was a reference to the celebrated Chocolate
Biscuit Incident.)

An astonishing outbreak of chivalry from one of rock's great
misogynists - and there have been one or two...

I thought the little documentary about the "Bigger Than Jesus"
controversy was much more revealing. If you hurry you may still be
able to catch the documentary on the Listen Again site: http://
digbig.com/4fntn A lot of amusing stuff from Maureen Cleave, who got
the quote and inadvertently started the whole thing.

The "Dear God" incident wasn't even close.

Well, indeed I would have posted about that eight-track sampler (thanks for
posting about it in detail here), myself, because I went out on a limb and
ordered the more eaxpensive package expressly to *GET* that disk, but
nothing like it could be found in my package!!  I even looked for something
resembling a post card to send back in order to get the disk!!  Nothin'!

How do I prove that I placed the order this way so I can still get the
limited edition item?  C'mon, guys; if I knew this was going to happen, I
would have placed a less expensive order!!

Gang,

I'm pleased that the entire XTC catalog is finally available from iTunes.
Included with all the major albums are "Fuzzy Warbles" (1-6), "Through the
Hill" (with Harold Budd), and the Dukes.

Wonderfully enough, there is a new recording of Colin's "Where Did the
Ordinary People Go?"  It sounds incredible.

Go to iTunes and download!

I logged to the the iTunes Music Store (US) today looking for the new
download-only Belle & Sebastian album.

Greeting me at the top of the mainpage was a picture of Andy & Colin
along side the magic words "Exclusive Track"

I clicked the link and found "Where Did The Ordinary People Go?" The
track is credited to Andy Partridge & XTC, but Colin is singing it.
Upon first listen, it's a great tune.

iTunes Music Store also loads of other XTC stuff that it didn't have
before. All six Fuzzy Warbles volumes are available now, along with The
Compact XTC (home of the non-album single, Wait Till Your Boat Goes
Down).

Apple's iTunes music store has added the XTC catalog as well as
