Not that it matters a whole lot now, but XTC performed "Scarecrow
People" live on MTV last night (thursday may 25) on "Postmodern MTV."
Andy, Colin and Dave were there on stage, all with acoustic guitars.
The performance was a little rougher than the O&L version, especially
with Andy's vocals, which warbled a bit in places. The guitar-only
sound made it a bit leaner than the album track. Did anyone else have
a chance to see it? Fortunately, I was able to catch it on videotape.

With XTC touring around, making live performances, it might be a good
idea to try to arrange a tape swap of recorded live performances. If
this does happen, some planning will be necessary to avoid a repeat of
the "Cathy Demos" mess over in Love-Hounds (where about 150 people
wanted a copy of some rare Kate Bush material and all sense of
organization went out the window).

Hey,
If anyone out there in Chalkhillsland taped the XTC special on KFJC
please contact me. PLEASE!
And on a more trivial note: Ages ago I read something in an english
music rag that described an english television show on which Partridge
was a guest. If memory serves, the show featured music people giving their
opinions on the new sounds of the day. The only thing I distinctly remember
was a comment Partridge made when asked his opinion of one particular tune.
He answered: "This song is about as exciting as browsing through a catalogue
of denim."

Is anyone out there planning to tape this, and if so would you be willing
to make me a copy if i send you some tape? I'd especially love to hear those
rare B sides, but i don't think i can get that station here in Gainesville,
Florida :-)

Thanks in advance,
