Or perhaps TVT will comment. I am pleased to be able to recant my complaint in principle. I did indeed fill out a card and send it to TVT back in December. I, of course, promptly forgot about the card, and about the entry spot for an email address, and my gripe with TVT at this point is reduced to their lack of any acknowledgement of my card or explanation of where they had gotten my email address. I assumed (as did others) that they had culled me from the mailing list. Thankfully I can report that this was not the case, and that they were merely remiss in stating their sources. I apologize for my remarks and encourage all citizens of the U.S. to run, wild-eyed and slavering, to the nearest record store on February 23 clutching fistsful of cash, and DEMAND the new album from XTC. Disqualifying "yonic" because it has a suffix from a different language isn't valid; there are lots of words in English that combine words from more than one language to create a new English word; unfortunately, I can't think of one right now, which might seem to invalidate my defense, but believe me, they do exist! (Actually, come to think of it, "unfortunately" is such a word; _fortune_ is Latin, and the -ly adverbial ending is native English.) Most of them are Greek-Latin bastards, but there are plenty of English words from various Scandinavian and Germanic languages that also get Latin or Greek bits slapped onto them. Too, -ic isn't an "English" suffix anyway (not like -wise, -ble, and -ment are); it's Greek, where -ika is the suffix that indicates that something is a conceptual noun (oikonomika=economics, mathematika=mathematics), and -ic started to get used during the Renaissance to indicate "like".... Therefore, "yonic" means "like a yoni". Also, to nitpick with English is such a losing battle, because we're such whores when it comes to creating and stealing words. English is pretty cool, especially when one learns just how much of the syntax of our language is a result of Britain's position as a highly-invadable and invaded island. Rock" & "Respectable St.". The lead singer rejected "Sgt. Rock" because he feared that HE would become "Sgt. Rock" in the same way that some people thought that Ian Anderson's name was "Jethro Tull", and he didn't want to be known by that name. He suggested "The Big Express" but that went over like a lead balloon. (ahem) "Respectable St." was vetoed because we did gigs with another band called "Main St." and we didn't want to be another "Street" band. We settled for "Mind Over Matter". Obviously, 12 years after the break-up it hardly matters what the band's name was, but the "Xtc names" in retrospect seem the coolest. Mike

H and Gregory are good mates, living close to each other. Gregory has hung around Marillion's studio a bit the past year, even loaning Steve Rothery two guitars that were used on their last album, "Radiation." The H album is worth the listen, even for Marillion/general prog-rock haters. For many years Marillion have been trying to eschew their prog-rock label, and their last few albums have a very modern, more middle-of-the-road feel. Darn, I missed it. You can get WFNX on the internet. The URL is
http://www.wfnx.com. I love it because WFNX is a great station.
I was out of town, so I missed the whole thing. I hope they play
it again. I have to check the stations here to see if they're going to
play it. 101.1 The River might play it. They play a lot of XTC stuff.
Also I should see if Jim Santella from 97 Rock, a Classic Rock station
here in Buffalo, will play it. He hosts a progressive rock show on
Sundays and he plays a lot of XTC.

On Friday, the reclusive duo will film an episode of the cable TV show Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Hi All, To the best of my recollection, Fuzzy Warbles will be something like four cds and will contain not all but very many demos from the past, including large parts of Jules Verne and The Bull but not all. It may or may not contain the demos for the Apple Venus albums (because there is another possible project, though not likely, in which each song on AV1 will be released along with it's demo counterpart on an individual cd all boxed together as one package much like the never finished "Somesuch" would have been.) Also, the reason why any second generation tapes of Colin demos won't cut the mustard and be worked into the box set is because Andy will be resequencing them (much like on Transistor Blast) and he wants everything to be of the best sound quality it can be. It seems to be a list compiled by one of their music reviewers that has his favorite songs for that week. He mentions "Your Dictionary" as the "ultimate kiss-off to an ex-spouse" and describes it as "breathtakingly bitter". On UK Arena two days ago, which is a UK cable channel here in - yeah - I watched a brilliant show where Graham Gouldman of 10cc, Neil Finn of New Zealand - and Roddy Frame just sat next to each other on a stage with a guitar each and sang their songs, taking turns and then joining in with each other's stuff. It was simple, it was uncomplicated, it was sheer brilliance. One man and his guitar. That's all that was needed. Well, three of them. OK you guessed my dream. Talent is an aphrodisiac indeed. I've seen some of the most dog ugly people you could ever wish to meet on a stage and wanted to bed them right then and there on the strength of their talent as performers, musicians, actors. WAW! Just thought I'd let you folks know that I'm pulling my weight around
here.....and with some success!
I sent the following email to the music director of our local FM rock
station.
Dave.
I've been listening to your station faithfully waiting to see if
you will pick up the first single, "I'd Like That" from the new
XTC album entitled Apple Venus due in stores Feb. 23rd.
I am wondering if you are planning on adding it to your play list?
Below you'll find a review of the CD found in the Province.
I have no connection to the band. Just a big fan in Victoria
looking forward to the bands first record in seven years, and
would love to hear it on the radio.

And now for my first listen to "I'd Like That"
I had been madly switching around the preset stations (driving my wife nuts)
on our car stereo hoping that at least one of the stations we listen to
would play it. Finally I was rewarded by my constant switching to Seattles
103.7 The Mountain. It was around 3:45....I'd happened to leave work a
little early and was on the way to pick up my wife. The female dj announced
that in the next set she would be playing new XTC!! I had goosebumps....I
said to myself surely you are loosing it. But the next thing I did was pull
the car off the road and into a parking lot....stopped the car and waited.
After a Rolling Stones song I was rewarded with my first listen to Apple
Venus. Heaven!
I can hardly wait to hear the whole thing next week!
