It's not a hearing aide, but a tinnitus "masker," I believe. This is a
device that generates white noise or a shaped/filter sound wave that can
alleviate the effects of tinnitus. Andy has mentioned using this device and
getting some relief from it.

greetings 'hillians of the chalk,

thanks for the most keen compliment, ryan, regarding my version of
andy's "susan revolving." i've been very tardy and negligent of my
psychedelic duties with regard to recording, though demos have been
created for an album's worth of swirling studio trickery with a sixties
flair. the record will be released under the pseudonym "the liquid scene."
at this point there are nine original tracks. will keep you posted when
it's done.

in the meantime, i'm still hoping to catch some live shows of "tin spirits"
and the amazing "pugwash." since this would require me flying over the
pond (and i'm sure there are plenty of other folks who would do the same),
perhaps we can persuade these talented musicians to do a show together?? a
double-bill of sorts?? now -that- would be a treat and worthy a flight.

happy new year to all, and may peace find its way into our hearts...

Can't recall this being posted before, but it's possible I may just have
missed it:
A Ray Davies interview from July in which he calls XTC a "Good band!"

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jul/21/record-rock-legend-ray-davies/

Is this the first known instance of the group being acknowledged by one of
Andy's stated songwriting heroes?

With best New Year's wishes to you and to Chalkhills,
Tor

I contributed some news articles to the site many years ago. I'm glad to
see the site is still alive and well!

I'm writing you because I am interested in purchasing some original
memorabilia (e.g., original album artwork, instruments used on sessions,
etc.). Do you know if Andy or someone else is in possession of such things
and would be interested in selling?

Thanks,
Joe
