Hi Chalkhillians,

I'm not writing to tell you that I have more Chalkhills shirts and hats.
Sorry, I'm still not making those right now.

I wanted to tell you about my little walk across England for charity this
summer.

Come July, I'll be traversing 84 miles along Hadrian's Wall, raising money
for The Joseph Salmon Trust, a local UK charity that helps bereaved parents
with funeral and other expenses.

A friend of mine, who sits on the charity's board, invited me and over 60
other people to participate in this week-long event. Our goal is to raise
20,000 pounds.

My personal goal is to raise 1000 pounds, and I'm nearly there. Currently,
I'm sitting at 890.

If any of my fellow Chalkhills denizens would like to donate to a great
cause, my fundraising page is here: Idaho Dad's Long
Walk - http://www.justgiving.com/IdahoDad

The secure site accepts PayPal or credit card.

I have more information at the site, if you'd like to read about the charity
and how it started.

Have a spare $5? $10? Any small, or large, donation will be greatly
appreciated. 100% of your donation goes to the charity to help families.

Thanks for your time,

- Phil C.

All:

Twice I heard about a band through Chalkhills and told myself "With a name
like that, I *know* I won't like them.

The first time it was The Mommyheads.

The second time it was Pugwash.

Twice I was wrong.

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans),
Andy answers questions from fans about guitar playing and
guitarists. The song of the week is Andy's version of Captain
Beefheart's "Ella Guru," which Colin helped Andy record in 1988.

If you want to know why Andy thinks the Barry Andrews-era version of
XTC "was more in the spirit of the Magic Band," or how to best use
compression when recording guitars, check out the XTCfans blog site at
http://blogs.myspace.com/xtcfans

Just dig it / That's right, "The Mascara Snake"
Fast 'n bulbous / Tight also...

Hi, gang!

I thought I'd post a bit of shameless self promotion. My new single, "We
Will Get That Far," is up on iTunes:

There are two musical references -- one Paul McCartney, one Jellyfish --
buried deep within the lyrics. Try to catch 'em all!

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer and that you're enjoying
some good music. I just finished taking a graduate school class called
"The Social History of Rock and Roll," and I managed to mention XTC
several times, of course. Now it's time for me to polish a 17-page paper
on the influence of the synthesizer on the music of the 1980s. I was
lucky enough to score e-mail interviews with both Steve Lipson and David
Gamson, which is pretty awesome, if I do say so myself!

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans),
Andy answers even more questions from fans about guitar playing and
guitarists. Plus, the song of the week is "Transmitter," from Andy's
upcoming album "Powers" (also featured on the "APE Loves Haiti"
compilation), which is now available for pre-order from the APE House
here:
http://ape.uk.net/acatalog/Andy_Partridge.html

If you want to know why Andy loves playing bass, or why Pat Mastelotto
couldn't jam in Andy's Shed with Andy, Dave Gregory and Adrian Belew,
check out the XTCfans blog site at:
