Message-ID: <720322.92986.qm@web32006.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Hi: DAMN, folks, I do *not* want messages from me to account for two-thirds of an issue of Chalkhills! (And I doubt you do, either.) Let's hear some chatter out there, eh? Like, how 'bout that Andy interview yesterday (Sunday 17th) on RundgrenRadio? The man's wit and stamina were stunning -- two solid hours of fielding fan questions with profound and funny answers. I wish I had his brain buds. -Todd I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. -Albert Einstein, physicist, Nobel laureate (1879-1955)

He takes the Rolling Stone review to task and I believe his point is very well taken plus the review is quite good.

Andy should have his own radio show. Seriuosly. He's entertaining as hell and knows his stuff. I just wanted to drop a line saying I've started up an XTC Appreciation Society page on facebook. Anyone can join in on the fun. Thanks Mark Bignell XTC fan

Ace band impostors, Tributosaurus, are adopting the guise of XTC for a show at Martyrs on 3/7. Any interest in a meeting? The last one we had at the Fireplace Inn in Ravenswood was great (though I did get soaked on my bike ride home) and it would be fabulous to see you all again. What say? Bill Sherlock

In addition, Dave Gregory -- who plays some nice-n-crunchy guitar on the song -- shares his memories about recording "The Everyday Story of Smalltown," last week's song of the week. Check it out at the XTCfans blog site, at http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans. What he says about the song might surprise you! I put it in a letter What could be better? -Todd

Message-ID: <51866.79405.qm@web86115.mail.ird.yahoo.com> Hi people of the chalk. Just felt the need to surface for another moan. Having watched some of the Brit awards last week, i realised that until Macca came on at the end, it was the usual uninspired non-event. I am bored with Amy Wino, Arctic Monkeys et al. It's as stale as last weeks beer that's been left in the sun. Then I decided to do a bit of a nosey around the web. I was stopped in my tracks when I reached Roger Manning's home page, got a bit excited when I read that he has an album due for release very very soon. My glee was de-gleed when I read the bit about Roger not having a label to release said material through (except in Japan I believe) in either the U.S. or Europe or anywhere else for that matter. He has put out a plea to everyone for possible labels that may release his new stuff. It makes me sick to think that the Arctic Monkeys can churn out the same old dirge, CD after CD which sounds the same (smells like oasis) and record companies throw cash at them like it's going out of fashion. Roger's plight reminds me of our own chaps and is still a reminder that the music biz has it's head up it's arse. Maybe Roger should approach Mr P for an APE release? I haven't heard any of the new stuff but if Mr Manning's back catalogue is anything to go by...bring it on. Sounds like I'm going to have to pay a fortune for a Japanese import...again. Well, moan over for now. Keep happy people. Nigel T.
