Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "Into the Atom Age."

If you want to know why Andy insisted in the band's early press
materials that he be described as a "nuclear-powered Syd Barrett," or
which part of the song sounds a bit Nazi to him, check out the XTCfans
blog site at http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

Hi:

Daniel Steinhardt of the GigRig (http://www.thegigrig.com) has posted
a number of videos of Mr. Dave Gregory jamming with Daniel and his
band, putting amps, guitars and effects to the test. Check it out at:

http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/TheGigRig_Amp_Shootout.html

My only problem with the clips is that they're too short!

Hello, I have a copy of the wonderful book "Songs and Stories" by XTC and
Neville Farmer. I'm looking to trade for any music that anyone would want to
send along. Due to financial concerns, my music collection is dwindling.
Contact me at shanklines@netscape.net

Thanks!

hello XTC enthusiasts

me = haven't bothered lately with chalkhills mail list. hope you, my
frenz, are all still havin fun anyway, and are happy and well.

me = have had other "fish to fry". hey, i for one, am "over it". i mean,
the band is all but defunct, isn't it? that happens with pop groups. you
can hold onto and savour their musical legacy - and in the case of XTC,
that's considerable and far ranging, and has had (will continue to have) a
far ranging influence on our lives. not just the music itself, which to me
is the most important thing, but also the effect that band has had on us as
fans. and not to diminish the wonderful friendships made thru this
chalkhills forum.

but why labour the point? do we need to dissect it any further, like
cutting apart a laboratory rat? the music is there - let that do the
talking. enjoy that, and remember the good times. let it stand.

in my case, it seems to me that many times, all i have done is to annoy
people with my misconstrued exuberance. i didn't mean to do that, but some
of you have seemed to not grasp it. just chill down. listen to the lyrix
of XTC and try to understand. why place a value over and above what is
essentially an extremely wonderful pop group who made (note, past tense)
some great sides?

XTC continues to be "where it's at" for me, always will be. but, we move
on. don't we?

i'm running with new flows and they are grand. for those few of you who
care (you know who you are, and you know i care), you might like to spend
five or so minutes at: www.myspace.com/realmcpugg and see how the other half
lives. comments welcome.

meanwhile, please try not to sweat it. just groove on what XTC gave us
over 30 or so years.

love and PeACE
(oh, i keep forgetting, some of you feel uncomfy when i say stuff like
that). but i mean it.

and, to quote the bard mr partridge: "before i let go, is that my name on
the bell?"

Hello 'Hillians,

After lurking here (forever), I was compelled to surface by the
following excerpt from the latest Keneallist e-newsletter from Mike
Keneally:

"I'll be in England this month, mostly on holiday, but also doing
some writing with Andy Partridge, and doing one gig with my very
special guest Dave Gregory, in Swindon at Riffs Bar on Thursday
  Oct. 23.

I'll be primarily playing solo but Dave is going to join me on a
passel of tunes. It's the one gig I could persuade myself to do in
the midst of vacation, so if you're anywhere nearby I hope you'll
come join us for a good time."

I would dearly love to be able to catch that gig!

Other coolness abounds... Andy's acoustic segment gives a closer look
at the musical structure. Also, it's great hearing a different
interpretation than the released version, somewhat like the acoustic
version of "Train Running Low..." from the Play At Home video.

If my fuzzy memory is correct, this was part of the video shot for the
1991 XTC convention that Pete & June Dix put on in Barrie,
Ontario. Seems that there were also segments showing the recording of
"Then She Appeared" and "Didn't Hurt A Bit," as well as a short
convention greeting segment from the the band & Gus Dudgeon.
