P.P.S.: What should we do to celebrate the upcoming

-- yes, you lurkers in particular, as Andy might say
-- post to Chalkhills simultaneously?

Really sorry if this has already been discussed, but I'm a lurker who
doesn't even get time to read all the Digests. I know I know I should
make time, but... then there's the myspace blogs to get through too!

Anyway, on to the subjuect of my mail:

Is it just me or can anyone else spot a similarity between the
acoustic guitar on the former Pulp frontman's Quantum Theory track and
Love On A Farmboy's Wages? Not being a musician myself all I can go on
is my ears and trying to place which bit of what track reminds me of
another. This Cocker track bugged me for a while, but now I'm
convinced it is Love On's slowed down nephew.

I know XTC are extensively plaguarised, nay ripped off, but I don't
find it so annoying when it's one of their less popular/known songs
that is nodded to.

Current XTC wise, can't get my head round this whole Moonstrance
thing. May buy it at some stage, but it's not exactly on my list of
priorities.

Any replies would be appreciated and will give me cause to make sure I
read the digests.

Keep up the good work everyone else...

Cheers

Hi all

Look what I got for auction on ebay!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120127207988

It's a Geffen produced Interview Album with Andy Partridge selling
Skylarking. That is to say, it's basically the SkyLarking Album (With Dear
God on it too) and in between each of the tracks is Andy telling us about
the tracks, wrapped either side with the Geffen man introducing and wrapping
up. It's one of those old fashioned black 12 inch diameter long playing
album jobbies which you can only play by putting it on one of those Record
Player TurnTable thingies and sticking some kind of a needle in the groove.
Turn the dial up to eleven though, just to be safe.

I'm looking to buy Fuzzy Warbles 7 & 8 and Hinges (the
website only bonus disc). I'm also interested if
somebody's looking to unload Monstrance.

I'm open to trades, too; I've got plenty of jazz,
improv jazz and some freaky stuff...

ted harms.

Homer: Jazz, pfft. They just make it up as they go along. I could do
that: dee dee-dee dee dee dee dee, dee dee dee --
Marge: That's "Mary Had a Little Lamb".

Okay, I finally bought it, and here's my take:

In spite of some reviews and comments, Monstrance isn't bad by any means; in
fact, it has some really stellar moments, although I'm not sure I would have
released as much material on two discs as they did. But I'm me, and they're
they, and that's their decision, innit.

In short, it's a busy work from which you can pull some great pieces of
inspiration while wading through minutes and minutes of easy pabulum, and
occasionally getting mired in mindless dreck.

Sort of like this mailing list.

Switching gears, does anyone know when the new Jason Falkner album will be
available in the US? Should I hold my breath, or just order the Japanese
edition? Anyone? Anyone??

Hi:

Over at the XTCfans MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/xtcfans), the
song of the week is "All Along the Watchtower.

If you want to know which Rolling Stones song might have replaced this
as XTC's sole cover song, and what it takes to do a good Johnny Winter
imitation, check out the XTCfans blog site at
http://blog.myspace.com/xtcfans.

You and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late
