There was a panel in which he selects his favourite (I guess) records, including Trout Mask Replica and something by Judee Sill. << Was it in Dutch? If you want it translating, scan it in or send me a URL and I'll get my wife to do a translation. :~)

It's kind of like radio, but better: http://www.pandora.com/ It's a fascinating experimental idea for radio, where you can type in a band or a song or a set of them, and you will instantly get a custom radio station coming at ya with no talking or ads. The really interesting thing is they way it plays songs and artists you've never heard, but might be interested in. So when I added "Kinks XTC Nick Drake Decemberists The Clash" to my station, I started hearing a mix of familiar favorites and other songs that are new to me, but that are interesting to me. I have no idea how it works. Something about crunching the data from jillions of listeners, or eddies in the space time continuum (is he?), or something. Maybe it takes 1.21 jigawatts to run it. I don't know or care. It's brought back the reason I used to like radio: to get exposed to new interesting stuff. Enjoy! Jim

Looks like it'll be some fun. A few early xtc-era tid bits. Interesting to see how much corporate backing this particular "indie" site has. 27 yrs ago wouldn't have expected to see "Carls Jr" and Steve Jones promoted on the same page. Also I see he interviews recently Brian Wilson, Billy Bob Thorton, Lisa Marie Presley. There is another show with an interview of the Ramones...! The same album cost Andy, Colin and Dave $400,000 US. Would you ever believe in your Art to that extent?" I'm not sure I understand: Would he believe in his OWN 'ART' that much to incest it in himself? Or would he pay that much money for an XTC record? Or for a Picasso? We pay what we must to get what we want (when we can). Personally, I pay little extra to get 'Warbles' from the IDEA site and not from Virgin, but would I do that for myself? Would you? Sincerely, don device (investment couselor) Todays tip: Buy Warbles for one dollar more than a picasso at name-your-own virgin store BTW: I feel as a dedicated consumer of XTC-related merchandise (including the 'music' product) to recieve high-quality reordings and masterings on durable material, with a song-list conforming more or less to that on the disc. That is the minimum. But a boy can dream can't he? (cue music) PS: Be careful talking about what the 'BAND' spends on making the record. Usually it's the LABEL (until recently, with the rise of professional(quality equipment at near-consumer prices), and tey charge a hell of a lot more to the band than they really spent (renting rehearsal space to thempselves, and chargin double, etc.. I once found out I was charged 5 dollars (USo for a coke at a rcording session from a rare itemized bill)...

Verily, this album rocks the house. It's Elton on piano and vocals, Nigel Olssen on drums, and Dee Murray on bass. That's it. Playing spare and raw arrangements, the band is young and hungry, and performs like nobody's business. Grab it if you can find it. -Todd Kindness is in our power, even when fondness is not.
