Yes, many CD releases from the early years of the technology have this
problem where the reflective layer of aluminum would separate from the
substrate. I remember hearing reports of this in the mid to late '90s.
So much for "archival" quality.

Unless it's actually falling apart, it shouldn't harm the CD player;
might be worth giving it a spin to see if you can pull the audio off, if
it's not too late already.

Happy bushwalking!

Todd, this was a glorious interview; thanks for putting it up. Andy's such
an interesting talker. I'm always longing for more songs from him, but as
long as he keeps on speaking to us through interviews and so on, I think I'll
be happy enough.

It was so satisfying to me to have that "Humble Daisy" lyric explained in
that interview, the line about the "milk and coins of morning's cash (cache?)"
It was an image I never quite understood, but now I think I get it.

Dave and Amanda,

Yes, that's her. One and the same. She posted on
the XTC forum a few months back. Here's the link:

Ahhhh, but read between the lines my friend...

In here biography it states:
"Lily Fraser was born and raised at the Sawmills studio, Cornwall. She is
one of 6 children, coming in at number 3. She moved from the middle of
nowhere to her first Cornish village at the age of 22 and discovered a few
basic facts about village life: closing the curtains to get changed,
neighbors, roadside parking and milk on the doorstep.
A year later she decided to try the city of Bristol before finally taking
the plunge and moving to London two years ago. And so she climbed from
comfort to chaos in a few short steps, But one thing seems to ring loud and
clear: Not even the London smoke can dampen the free spirit of a child born
in the Cornish wilds!"

Sawmill Studios?! Why, that's where The Dukes recorded... hmmm, seems to me
she IS our Lily!!

Actually David it says there in her Bio that she was raised at Sawmill
Studios in Cornwall. Which is where the Dukes recorded 25 O'Clock so
my answer would be yes this is the Lily Fraser from the Dukes record.

Ya can't get the buttons these days.....

Simon welcome to the wonderful world of CD rot! Although when they were
first released companies were touting about how they would last forever,
they don't. By the way, if you put on "Little Creatures" it will, indeed, be
a unique sound experience as without the silver backing there won't be
anything for the laser to bounce off of making for interesting bouts of
silence.

I had something similar happen with, of all things, a Mobile Fidelity Sound
release.

Yep, I do agree it has been too long since an XTC album. However the release
of "Spiral', "Say It" and even the older "Where Did All the Ordinary People
Go?" is promising. At least they're in the studio but I keep hoping, like
Danny Phipps, that a new album will come along to spice up my life.

"Some kudos for its creator, Gregg Alexander, who, strangely, promptly
retired after recording it. "

Alexander doesn't perform anymore (he didn't enjoy touring) but he writes
songs and produces for other artists. For example, he co-wrote that song
"The Game of Love" that Santana did with Michelle Branch (and which bears a
passing resemblance to "You Get What You Give"). Look him up on Wikipedia
for a list of songs he's worked on.

Hi Folks,

I've lately been getting into browsing YouTube, as you do with too much time
on your hands. Some cool stuff.

For those who, like me, wanted to find a way to download and play clips you
find may I direct your attention to:

Enjoy!

Going back to download another Al Brodax Beatles cartoon episode - Yeah!
Yeah! Yeah!

Having never been to Swindon I was surprised to see all of the following
listed as being born there:

The first four we know--all the members of XTC (past and current).

Justin Hayward, Rick Davies, Roger Mann, Billie Piper, Jack Dangers and
Stephen Gibbons. Funnily enough Terry Chambers is listed there as an actor
not a musician.
