Oh, well, s'pose it might be my cheap deodorant or something... <snip> my answer to this question might have something to do with the inclusion of a certain pair of shorts along with requested music cd's to be burned and then mailed out, righto paullie? yeah, that's "Love" for ya .... (hmmm) flame on .......... happy new year, everyone. (that includes you, too, andy and colin!) <back to lurk mode>
------------------------------ Date: Sat, 31 Dec 2005 11:45:34 -0800 From: "Wayne Klein" <wtdk123@msn.com> Subject: Rhapsody XTC Message-ID: <BAY108-F33D14EC6B376F2698BBF7F92B0@phx.gbl> I wash listening to some of the XTC selections from Rhapsody...when I noticed that the tracks from "Apple Venus" and "Wasp Star" are actually drawn from the demo albums "Homegrown" and "Homespun". Kind of interesting but I would think that the finished versions might attract more fans... Thomas noted: >>anyone else notice that the artwork for Fuzzy Warbles 8 is nearly >>identical to the artwork from Golden Age by Cracker? Thanks for the info for the site Thomas. Very interesting. I didn't see Andy's cover there but saw one for "The Climax Blues Band" (next to Cracker)which resembles the stamp covers Andy has used but nothing for "Fuzzy". Maybe I didn't dig far enough into the site... Sadly I don't have much of a "Best of the Year" but some nominees that I liked... "Aerial" by Kate Bush. Once you hit middle age things change and, like Andy and Colin, I think that Kate made the perfect middle age album. I remember all the criticism that John Lennon took when he released "Double Fantasy" another perfect middle age album. "Gentle Giant" -The Power and the Glory reissue. An album I've always liked sounds great on this reissue with two bonus tracks. Also Gentle Giant's "Free Hand" with 1 bonus track... "From Chaos to Creation" by Paul McCartney. I'm happy that Macca's taking risks again and this is the fourth worthwhile studio album in a row...a new record for Macca. Kirsty MaColl - "Titantic Days" reissue with a 2nd disc of previous unissued demos, single tracks, etc. One of her best albums. "Front Parlour Ballads"-Richard Thompson. RT in fine form on this acoustic album of new songs recorded with his buddy bassist Danny Thompson. "Master of Diaster" -John Hiatt Another interesting, quirky and fun album from Hiatt. Combine this with the "Live at Austin City Limits" CD for a perfect combo "Live at the Filmore"-Lucinda Williams. Great show and I'm glad I was lucky enough to be there. "Kicking Television"-Wilco. A great live album. Didn't care for the indulgent last studio release but liked this. "Paradise Hotel" -Eliza Gilkyson. She opened for Richard Thompson at the Filmore and was terrific. Great songwriter/singer. "1000 Years of Popular Music" -Richard Thompson--This makes the list because I picked it up this year. The "Born to Run" reissue with the DVDs was also fun. Got that as a Xmas gift. Not a huge Springsteen fan but have always admired his music and the two DVDs are terrific. XTC--make a DVD about the making of your most popular US and UK albums! By the way, thanks to Happy Puppy Records for the info on Roger Manning's release. I also thought it was interesting the remarkable indifference that Big Star faced with their latest release...no airplay that I know of and few reviews. Interesting considering what a cult following Alex Chilton has that and the support of two of the Posies for this "reunion". Happy New Year to all stay sane, avoid the rain, stay dry

No. It's something I did a while ago (maybe for Fuzzies 3+4) as a placeholder. That and the "artwork" for Vol. 7. And yes, I took the Cracker artwork and Gimped it. The other stamp came from the 'net somewhere. And I modified it heavily as well. I really should have stuck Andy's boyhood photo in there. > was this approved by andy? Hell, no. > does andy know? Do you know if Andy knows? I don't know if Andy knows. > does the shadow know? The Shadow knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men. -- John -- np. Daniel Carwile: Terra Nova

I figured they'd be 1 & 2 at the end of the year and no clue as to who I'd put on top. Ry Cooder's Chavez Ravine ended up being my top choice with Paul Weller (getting better with nearly every album) and Nada Surf coming up strong with end of the year releases. But please, check out Heard It on the X. Really good stuff on that disc. Other worthy releases this year: Danger Doom - The Mouse and the Mask Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Neil Young - Prairie Wind Weezer - Make Believe Mark Eitzel - Candy Ass Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Jacksonville City Nights Beck - Guero & Guerolito World Leader Pretend - Punches Guilty Pleasure of the year: Madonna - Confessions on a Dance Floor. Yes, it has nearly some of the most trite lyrics ever. Yes, its a dance album. Yes, its Madonna trying for yet another comeback. Do I care? Nope. With the exception of a few songs, I loved every second of it. Disappointment of the year: Tori Amos - The Beekeeper What a turd of an album. Sorry, but this just sucks. Debut of the year: The Magic Numbers. Just run out and get this cd. Its very good. Reissues of note that I enjoyed: The Cure - Seventeen Seconds (Deluxe Edition) The Cure - Faith (Deluxe Edition) The Cure - Pornography (Deluxe Edition) Trend I wish would go away: Dual Disc Just add a second disc to the packaging you money hungry major label schmucks! Ok, enough ranting. All the best for a wonderful New Year ahead! Tv

I have their best-of 'Illustrated History' cd release from a couple of years ago, and it's a great cd! It also has a couple of songs in "Engrish" if that helps ;) I've been interested in seeing the cartoon too, but keep missing it. Sounds like I haven't missed much though. I guess like the Beatles, Puffy is best at making music! -The Colonel
------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Jan 2006 11:50:51 -0000 From: "David Edwards" <davidedwards1@onetel.com> Subject: Spiral etc Message-ID: <01b201c612b7$715ccc60$cc864ed5@David> Spiral tells me that the fire is still very much alight in the Partridge belly. I especially like the classic, discordant XTC guitars after 2:25 - an auspicious sign. On My Land Is Burning, Andy croons: "pity me pity me my fair lady pity me if you can as I stabbed myself with a small black cross when I voted for that man" Are we to understand that the fair lady doesn't vote, then? The song can't be set pre-suffragettes because the countryside is "entombed" in tarmac. Just a thought... Best wishes David
