Greetings fellow Chalkhills-folks!

In a previous issue of Chalkhills someone made an inquiry about the Dukes of
Stratosphear (who are they, relation to XTC, etc.) and John recommended that
they purchase "Chips from the Chocolate Fireball".  I further recommend that
this person make a beeline to their nearest Hastings' outlet.  I found "Chips
>from the Chocolate Fireball" in their 'cutout' CD bin here last night for
only five US dollars.  Of course, it's possible that this price is due to my
location (Arkansas).  People here don't buy much that doesn't have a steel
guitar and fiddle in it.

Regarding the Chalkhills 'Tribute' tape...sounds like a good idea.  I'm
thinking of something to contribute myself, or perhaps I can get my old band
(the Gunbunnies, if you've heard of them) to help.  Sounds like fun...keep
us posted!

     Does anyone know if there is any sheet music out for Oranges and
Lemons, preferably with tabs. I haven't been able to find any but
also haven't asked about ordering it.
     Fred Hamition, I saw your message and tried to reply to you
directly but was rejected. I live in the Northeast so going to your
house is kinda out of the immediate question, and EMAILing
descriptions would be hard also, so if you can tell me how to find
any XTC sheet music it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, students!  Don't study!  Write song parodies at 3 am instead!

Yes, it seems that in 1986 some time, Barry Andrews dropped in out of nowhere
to pester XTC.  They recorded a song of Barry's, a lovely memoir about
Swindon, 1978, but then Barry got pissed and split.  Andy and Colin and
Dave stole Barry's song and wrote new lyrics for it.  And the original can
now be brought to you for the first time ever!!

Yes, it's true, Barry Andrews, keyboardist for XTC on their first two
albums, _White Music_ and _Go 2_, went on to help found Shriekback.

Except for the UK and Greece, all versions of the _Go 2_ LP included
"Are You Receiving Me?".  Almost always uncredited on the cover,
ofttimes it was uncredited on the inner sleeve as well.  Check out the
XTC discography for more details.

Greetings, fellow Chalkhillers!
Those of you who are familiar with the GREAT radio show _Nightlines_
already know that it's a good place to hear XTC on the radio.
On the Saturday night before last (November 30th), their
_Feature Spotlight Feature Album_ was the oft heard of but
oh so rarely heard _Lyrics by Ernest Noyes Brookings, Vol.2_.
   We were happy to hear for the first time Andy's _ROCKET_,
a strange tune featuring the sound of a cheap portable Casio
keyboard of sorts.
   (Some) Toronto area radio stations are good for an XTC
fan's heart, today on CFNY-fm's _All Request Nooner_ I was happy
to hear _Dear God_.

   Yes, Santa Claus, there really is a Virginia. (???)

   I'm Steve Levenstein (70750.1117@COMPUSERVE.COM). Since I
married fellow _XTC Fan extraordinaire_ Maya (nee Matsuda) from
Tokyo, Japan, our interest in things XTC has increased in direct
proportion to the size of our suddenly twice-sized XTC collection.
Maya brought to Toronto her CDs of Saeko Suzuki, Hiroyasu Yaguchi,
and the extremely rare (1,000 of each made) 3" mini-CDs of
_Thanks for Christmas_ and _Too Many Cooks_, among many others.

   Please feel free to email me/us via the Compuserve address thingy
especially if you have an interest in the _Anglo-Nipponese Axis_,
as _The Little Express_ terms it!

   Merry XXXXXXXmas to all, and here's hoping we get a brand

According to the December 1991 issue of _ICE Newsletter_
(International CD Exchange, quoted without permission), 28 January
1992 will see the release of a new CD, _Todd Rundgren: An Elpee's
Worth of Productions_:

    The label [Rhino Records USA] solicited Todd Rundgren's
    help in compiling _Todd Rundgren: An Elpee's Worth of
    Productions_, which includes cuts from such Rundgren-
    produced artists such as XTC, the New York Dolls, Patti
    Smith, The Tubes, Felix Cavaliere, Meatloaf, and Grand
    Funk Railroad...

For those of you who aren't sure, Mr Rundgren produced XTC's
_Skylarking_ album, to the delight of some and to the mortification
of others.  Many people have praised the album's unity of concept,
but others, including Andy Partridge, have complained about the
sound quality, saying that Mr Rundgren used too much processing and
equalisation on the sound of the instruments, resulting in an album
which sounds inferior.
