Hi there!

Andy Partridge's APE label has made the Lighterthief video available on You
Tube in high definition. Please, by all means, pass this on to at least two
of your friends because everyone should be allowed to enjoy this snappy
little ditty at least once in life! As soon as we know more about when the
compilation will be available, we'll let you know. In the meantime, thanks
in advance for helping Lighterthief get the word out about "Running with the
Mothmen!"

"RUNNING WITH THE MOTHMEN" BY LIGHTERTHIEF on You Tube ~

Peace,
Angelina

WHAT A LINE-UP! I'VE ONLY SEEN THE TWO XTC SEGMENTS - THEY'RE EVEN DRESSED
IN BLAZERS AND SNEAKERS A LA PATRICK'S ATTIRE IN THE ORIGINAL SERIES. I'D
CERTAINLY LOVE TO SEE THE WHOLE THING, SO, YEAH, IF ANYONE'S GOT A COPY,
LET'S TALK, MAYBE DO A DEAL?

SPEAKING OF STAN UNWIN, HE REPRISED HIS ROLE AS "HAPPINESS STAN" ON THE FULL
PERFORMANCE OF THE SMALL FACES "OGDEN'S NUT GONE FLAKE" ON A CONTEMPORANEOUS
BRIT TV SHOW "COLOUR ME POP". THAT, TOO, WAS ON BOOBTUBE FOR A WHILE, BUT
FOR SOME REASON, THAT, TOO SEEMS TO HAVE DISAPPEARED. I HAD IT UP ON MY
MICE PACE PAGE, BUT IT GOT REMOVED FROM THERE TOO, DAMMIT.

>XOXOXOXO

likewise i'm sure Kendley. feel free to correspond off list and tell me
where you're at :-)
you can also find me on bookface, or my extensive site on the unfashionable,
but superior, mice pace (link below)

The Beatles remasters have arrived at the tail-end of the lifespan of
Compact Disc, (which I'd venture is at its dying breath, since CD singles
aren't even sold at most retailers in my country anymore). This was
probably EMI / Apple's last chance to make money selling the Beatles
catalogue in this format, since Blu-Ray has moved beyond early-tech adopters
and is in the process of going mass market

The remastering engineers on the Beatles project were working in a far
higher-resolution than had been previously possible: 24 bit, at 192 kHz.
To their ears, they claim `this is indistinguishable to the original
masters'. This, of course, is also the resolution of Blu-Ray audio.

Knowing this, I'd venture that since:

- these remasters needed to be reduced to the quality of the 16 bit, 44.1
kHz CDs;

- the 24-bit mixes still physically exist on the hard drives;

- Apple have put out a steady progression of Beatles product every couple of
years since 'Live At The BBC';

then I'd expect the new CD collections will likely be made obsolete in as
little as a few years for 24-bit Blu-Ray versions, possibly after the
release of new computer-generated Yellow Submarine Movie and its associated
wave of merchandising.

Basically, this train of thought, (coupled with the Giles Martin's stellar
remixed-from-scratch stereo versions for the Rock Band game), was why I
didn't buy either collection.

LAST MINUTE ADDENDUM:

I don't believe this: *They're already obsolete*:

http://beatles.fanfire.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Store.woa/wa/product?sourceCode=BEAWEB&sku=BEA48315&utm_source=storefront&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=BEA_USBapple_200911

Just over three months after they sold you the entire catalogue, from the
12th of December, you will then be able to buy the USB stick digital
version, housed in a 'Love You To' , err... Granny Smith Apple, with both
exportable-to-I Tunes mp3 and 24-bit FLAC versions, with expanded liner
notes and more photos.

*I just know Yoko was behind this*.

Folks,

Paul and Neva pointed out that Swindonians were getting free WiFi, but
this headline really sums it up:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/11/17/swindon_wifi/

Swindon council promises townsfolk free Wi-Fi XTC
Leaves citizens feeling ten feet tall

Found via Google News search for "XTC".
